After calling many times the NVC 603-334-0700 they confirmed that they received the file from USCIS and issued a new case number. I asked for the case number and when will they transfer the file to the us embassy abroad. They responded that the case is going through necessary AP (Administrative Processing) and that they will contact me via email when completed and with further instructions. How long should i expect to wait ? I read that NVC moves quicker than USCIS. What should i expect from the NVC when they do contact me via email ?

Much quicker. Have a look here. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/stats.php?cfl=

Average right now 27 days.

We never got anything from NVC. Don't hang your hat on them contacting you. Send them an email periodically. When you get the file number start tracking it at the Consulate.

Thanks slowlyman ! You are right, my file left uscis on December 16th 2013 and i never got anything from NVC letting me know that they had received it so I just kept on calling. I finally got the File number that NVC assigned to my case. You are suggesting that I track the file at the consulate. How would I go by to do that ? Should I call the consulate or do they have a tracking feature on their website or are you referring to the DOS case status website https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=WwjqOlbeRYzCYubaSQI+RA==

Funny how your user ID really summarize this whole process !

I don;t have much faith in the CEAC site, but ya, you can track it there. But, what you really want to know is when it gets to the Consulate. So I would be emailing them. Your portal should have more info on that part of it.

I'm at 33 days and counting, going to call the NVC tomorrow and see if maybe it's been sent and no one told me.

(Never mind, I misunderstood. I'm still waiting for mine to get sent from USCIS to the NVC)
