Timeline

If you are already married, K-1 is not an option.

OP, you ask for recent timelines for the K-3/CR-1. People have been posting that April / May applications are just now leaving USCIS. That is 8 months and the process is not complete. If you plan on 12 months, you should be about right.

Spend some time reading the CR-1 threads. You will get a good feel for what people are experiencing right now. Keep in mind, these things ebb and flow. When we applied for K-1 USCIS time was 5 - 9 months. Currently people are getting approved in 2 -3 months. USCIS seem to shift manpower around to the sqeeky wheel. You just never know.

You can;t choose a Visa based on what you think will be fastest. You have to take the one you can legally apply for and just ride it out.
