Social Security Questions for K1/K2 who are now in USA.

We went to the SSA office today and my fiance K1 was able to make an application for a SSN to arrive in about 2 weeks. Her K2 daughter (20 years old) and K2 son (11 years old) were unable to get a SSN. Can anyone explain why the K2's where unable to get a SSN? When will they be eligible for SSN? Any steps to securing one for them and any reasoning would help. Can the K1 work on her SSN or will she have to wait for AOS or some other step?

K2's have to wait until they get their EAD or GC to get a SSN. K1 cannot work until they receive their EAD or GC with the SSN.

I have read about this a few times where the K-2 isn't allowed to get their SSN until they get their green card or EAD. I think part of the issue with the K-2 is that it is not listed as a visa class that is allowed to work:

I have not done the K2 process, only gathered info from what I have read.

I tend to agree with you. That's what happen yesterday and they are not listed on any research I have looked at including your links.
