Okay so I am filling out my packet 3 right now and I am kind of confused if I fill out some of these questions or do I leave them blank?

DS-156.

How long do you intend to stay in the US?

Whats the purpose of the trip?

Whos gonna pay for the trip

do i intend to work and who will my employer be?

Its my K1 visa so obviously I plan on staying there forever as soon as I get married and I plan on working there when i find a job and get the rest of my paper work done? so should I fill those questions out or leabve em blank?

Thanks

Pete

One more question.

The checklist. do I bring the stuff to the interview or do I attached it to the paperwork?

On the DS-156 Form it says to attach in order to apply for fiance visa (birth certificate, evidence of engagement, police records ect.)

But I remember readin that I was to collect these things and bring them to the interview with me.

The 156 is a standard form used for other Visas. Some fields will not apply to you. Never leave a filed blank. Enter N/A, None, etc.

Check out example forms her: http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples

For more specific info relating to your consulate, post in the Canada portal.

And actually, I think the 156 is obsolete, replaced by the 160. but check with your Portal to be sure.

I would double check, some consulates are just using the DS-160 online which replaces alot of the other forms you used to have to turn in with packet 3

When I filed my K1 with USCIS I mailed them a copy of EVERYTHING. and prepped my package for my fiance for his interview. I had him send me his birth certificate, his police certificate and some other docs and made sure he had a copy of everything. Once USCIS gets it then it it forwarded to NVC then to the embassy. My process was very fast and just an 8 day review in AP (thank goodness).

Every place is different but I would definitely ask the Canadians what they did and Im so sure you will find all the answers you need. Good luck on your journey!

They've updated packet 3 within the past few months, but I'm not sure if the VJ guides have been updated. Here's the updated version of everything you need : http://photos.state.gov/libraries/canada/303578/montreal/Packet3-K1-MTL.pdf

You don't have to send in anything on the checklist, all of that is brought to the interview. Emailing packet 3 took a few of us approximately a month (including Thanksgiving), so be patient.

You might want to check if you really have to complete DS-156 instead of DS-160. According to the current checklist on the Montreal Consulate's website, the first step on the Packet 3 instructions is:

1. Confirmation receipt with barcode number from the completed Form DS-160. The

system will automatically generate the confirmation receipt after you submit the
form. The form is available online at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ –SEND COPY OF THE
CONFIRMATION RECEIPT ONLY BY E-MAIL. DO NOT SEND THE ENTIRE APPLICATION.

I commented this on your other post, but I figured it would be helpful to have it altogether. It's also good to know that everything gets emailed to Montreal now, not mailed in.
