Hello VJ users, I have a question about birth certificate. My mom was born before 1960, and for that reason, she doesn't have a birth certificate. She went to a local government in lagos, and they told her that they will issue her a birth attestation. So my questions are:

1. Does she need to go to the state where she was born to get a birth attestation?

2. Will a birth attestation suffice for NVC b'cos I read somewhere on travel.stat.gov that if born before 1960, a certified statement must be obtained from an appropriate government authority explaining why your birth record is unavailable.

Each country has unique requirements but Nigeria is fully aware what the Biafrian war did to the country records wise. You can get the attestation and if you wish you can get a statement from someone that has known her for a long time like a religious leader , government official or school employee that can say they have known her since ?? and that her age to the best of their knowledge is about ??

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
