Takes 4+ months. I've seen some people to that took almost 2 years but the average is about 8 months for the USCIS petition. Then it's another 4 months approximately for the NVC. Then you wait for an interview. Then if the beneficiary is from a middle Eastern country, especially for a male, there is an undetermined amount of administrative processing where they do more name and background checks.

But the instructions do not say one need to send the entire passport. It says copy of passport. I don't under stand the need to send copies of blank pages. No info is given by the blank pages. When requesting green card, they specifically say, front and back.

That's correct, a copy of the entire passport, blank pages cover and all.

Also what's up with this backlogs for petitions that's going on with uscis? I'm not understanding it. Can someone clear it for me?

It would take too long too explain. There's always a backlog of some type it happens. Alot of people trying to immigrate here. USCIS is moving I-130's around trying to get things worked on. In October they reported 535,000 I-130's sitting waiting and a 16 month wait. So far the transferrs in the last few months haven't netted too many approvals. But there's always hope.

You can search VJ and read the different post on whats happening.

For a Pakistan male likely more than not AP. Some do get Visa immediately some don't. There's nothing you can do to avoid AP. There's no prep work. Much of it is security and name checking and many other things that immigration does. Just hope for the best.

Just read the Islamabad AP TRacker will give you a good awareness of wehat many Pakistani men and even some women have to endure.

I'm reading everything n it's making me crazy. Lol. One more question that came to my mind. With special circumstance the petitioner can apply I-130 at the us embassy abroad ??? So how do I do that ? I did try to contact us embassy here but they told me that they don't accept petitions there anymore. I will have to apply through uscis. Also is it faster to apply through us embassy abroad or faster applying to Chicago lockbox ??

Your embassy doesn't have DCF (Direct ConsularFiling). You (The petitioner) would have had to be a resident of UAE to file there anyway. It;s not certain circimstances its available for now very few countries and its for when the USC is leaving abroad with immigrant and they are a resident of that country.

You filed correctly for UAE. If you were a resident of Pakistan you could have filed DCF at Islamabad.

And yes DCF is way faster like done in 4 to 6 months depending how fast you get your paperwork done. Currently you are looking at 12 to 16 months and thats not including AP if it happens.

Is it really true? I actually thought of hiring a lawyer n contacted one. He gave me all the check list of documents that i need to submit to him, also a joint sponsor check list. He didn't say that he will find a joint sponsor for us when i told him that we don't have a joint sponsor. That's y i'm doing everything on my own.

off-course its true.

Usually lawyer doesn't provide any joint sponsor. but if you discuss about your matter he might be found out someone who can support you.

Katy Crawford, sorry for the late reply. I'm not living in USA at the moment. I'm living in UAE with my husband and we are trying to apply I-130 for him. I used to live in Texas though. When did you apply for ur spouse? is it approved yet?
