Why would anyone need a gun in a restaurant?

I am sure a lot of gun owners do all sorts of every day things. All the responsible sane ones leave their guns at home.

Your opinion, you're welcome to it. But your head-in-the-sand ignorance does not change the real world around you. If you don't like America's freedom with weapons, there are other countries that don't allow them. Feel free to move at any time.

I don't think it's in the American tradition to tell people who disagree with you to leave the country.

What is 'the real world around you?'. The world where someone needs the option of pulling a gun in a restaurant? You don't think that's somewhat paranoid? Have you ever had to whip it out in a restaurant?

It's paranoia that drives people to run around armed. I'm not paranoid and thus I don't feel the need to take a gun with me when I take a dump.

I would agree that on most days, it is safe to go around in the world without a gun on your person. The problem is, not every gun owner is reasonable. Nor a sane, moral person.

It only happened once, but a few years back, I was in the left lane, coming up on my exit (to the right). The guy on my right wouldn't budge an inch, in spite of my signal, and I had made eye contact, so I know he knew what I wanted. I sped up, he sped up, but my car was faster, and I was able to get in front of him and make the exit. He followed me, and when we got down to the stop light, he got out, yelling, cursing, and waving a pistol at me, threatening to shoot me. I had nothing. He finally gave up his tirade, backed up, and took off down the highway, never even intended on getting off at the exit.

It ended well for me, except the fear that I or my son was about to get shot. But it's people like THAT who make "sane gun owners" want to carry when they are out and about.

It is my tradition to tell people who don't like the ways and laws of this country to go find a more amenable (for them) place to live. Then they won't have to complain so much, eh?

Yeah that might be the case for you, but that doesn't make you very reasonable.

And I thought one of 'the ways' of the country was to tolerate opposing viewpoints. Its fine to disagree, but telling people to GTFO, not so much.

Are you actually able to relax and have a good time when you go out of the house or are you constantly on edge that it might kick off at any moment. Pretty sure there are medications for that - diazepam or some such.

The gun aficionados keep doing it, trying to persuade the rest of the world that the modern urban restaurant is a dangerous place that requires one to be armed to be safe. Brilliant, keep making my case for me

I feel safer when less people around me are armed, not more.
