You are going to receive a notification that they've received it in about a week or so. The notification will have your case number. You can check your case status online with that number and check for any updates. It's a lot of waiting , so be patient. Your second notification will be in a few months. Some people can get an RFE which is what I got. You never want to get that, it's request for more evidence and your case is on hold until you send them what they ask for. You just want a second notification that your case is approved .

Hi!

I just have a quick question..me and my fiance just sent our K1 I-129F, are they going to notify us that they have received it? and if they received it, are we still going to wait for another notification that it has been approved?

Im sorry, I just wanted to know. I am just new to this.

Thank you,

Carol

Yes, they will notify you that they have received it and you are eligible or not for K1 I-129F (NOA1). And yes, after the NOA1 is a very long wait for NOA2 (approval or denial)or RFE if they need something from you. We got RFE after waiting for 5 months and wait again after RFE. Not fun at all.

Yes I also got my RFE after exactly 5 months!

They should work faster, if they need evidence they should send the RFE within 5 months, 5 months is supposed to be the decision time not RFE. I don't understand why do they take 5 months to send RFE. Where do you live?. My fiance is in Colorado Springs, we might have the wedding there too.

It takes 5 months because noone looks at the petition(usually) before priority date becomes current. So the person sitting with the petition did not know that it lacked evidence. Not unless alot was missing and it was discovered when cashing the check. Priority date is on the NOA1 as far as I remember.

I agree though, it would be neat if RFEs would be generated when they take the check. But it's two seperate processes so it's not likely to happen.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

Click timeline or "about me" for all details.

I know , I'm pretty sure the amount of applications they receive would make it impossible for one person or just on step of review. I'm pretty sure they go through various departments. I live in New York and my fiance in Dominican Republic. Good Luck to everyone . I'll keep you all updated.

But 5 months is a very long wait when you are in love. I saw someone's timeline and she got the approval for K1 within 2 months.

I'm not sure but i think touched means they view the papers. I'm having a hard time now, this long wait is succeed in putting us into stupid deal ever. Not contacting each other for one month is stupid deal.

hi I came across this page and I was bothered by one thing. I followed the checklist for the papers needed to pass with the I129f. just wondering he sent the certificate of naturalization only and the 1st page of his passport. is that okay?

Hi everybody!

It scares me as I read everything that is required!!! I traveled to meet my love in November 2011 but I don't have the Boarding passes anymore and it's the same thing with my second coming in January 2012... I don't know what to do because I know they're going to ask me this. So what can I do to get them? Should I call the travel agency for that?

We are collecting papers for the k-1 petition and when we're 50 with a past life plus children, it's not easy. Right now I'm waiting for the Death Certificate of my first husband who died in Greece and then needs to have it translated. The certificate I had translated didn't mention his name :( The person helping us collect the papers was suspicious because when a French gets married we receive a Marriage booklet and the Marriage Extract is not written in the first page. So she thought I was hiding something :( So it delays the process of a week. Then she asks my love to write about how we met and we didn't print the pictures to write the date.

We sooooo want to avoid to go through RFE... I know you'll say : me too!

NOA1 August 6 2012
NOA2 April 16 2013

NVC April 22 2013

Packet 3 received May 25th 2013

Interview July 11th 2013

I'm not a reference between packet 3 and 4. Some papers were missing so things were delayed.

Approved
See Timeline for update

RFE another child to add delays the case

Green Card received 18 July 2014 Almost a year! :(
