On the back of the photos did you write the date it was taken, location, and the names of the people in it (you and your fiance)?

You should only need to send them Airline Ticket Stubs, Photographs, and Visa Stamps.

The personal statement should have been sent with the pack as supplemental to B18 (I wrote a brief explanation on the form with a lengthier explanation attached). If you're going to include this I would recommend having it notarized so the adjudicate will know it's authentic and not written by you. Include their visa stamp and airline ticket if they went with you on the trip.

If your fiance's name is on the hotel receipt submit that too, just add a note (with a post-it, do not alter anything you give them!) stating that it was them and the hotel only recorded their first name. On the note write something like "Hotel stay with beneficiary (John Doe) from Aug 15 2010 - Aug 21 2010. Please note that receipt only contains first name of beneficiary (John Doe)"

Don't forget to include a cover letter listing the documents being provided and at the end include the tid bit about them being authentic unaltered copies.

i got an RFE and was going crazy but it was nothing big (at least not yet...hehehe) i just overloooked a box and forgot to mark "no" on one of the sections, i mailed it as sooon as i could, to the address on the colored cover page of the packet they send ya. i pray everything else goes smooth and doesnt take so long...it just feels alot better once u know ur mistake and stay optimistic about it. i used to get nervious to call ins cuz they seem to form a wall between u and them but now i jsut dont care and i call and try to get information from them as much i can in a nice way.

Yes I posted the original message a few days back - I sent a message to Captain Ewok to see if there is anyway we can set this up, possibly something like the timelines etc where you put your info. in etc. rather than searching through alot of back posts. He said it was a good idea and he will need a few weeks to work on it so hopefully this will be sorted soon, when he isnt too busy lol :)

Another question here. If you get a RFE can you still be denied on your application? Because technically the application is approved right? They just need the missing information or evidence, right? I'm just worried that after all this wait and after sending back the RFE I might get denied on my application.

First, you need to correct your assumption.

An RFE does NOT mean that the petition is approved.

What it means is that the adjudicator got to your petition and you were missing something that they need to continue the review process. Your case is effectively stalled until you reply to them with the missing information.

It does mean that it made it to an adjudicator, and as soon as you provide the information they request, that they will proceed with the review. The result of the review could be another RFE, Approval, or Denial based on the additional evidence offered.

After almost 5 months of waiting USCIS sent me an email saying that I have a RFE. I have not received the hard copy yet. I just want to know the pros and cons of having a RFE?

Pros: Your case is sitting on someone's desk.

Cons: Your case is stalled, waiting on you to reply with the requested information. From the time the RFE is issued, to the time that the reply is received back at the Service Center, your case is sitting, doing nothing. Which can extend your wait time a minimum of two weeks.

Damn! I haven't looked at our I-129F documents since I sent them off back in Octoer. But going thru this thread I was just looking through our I-129F package and saw immediately that I did not put my U.S. Social security number in box 8a and also nothing (not even N/A -should be N/A) in box 8b. I'm sure we will get and RFE for this! My Social Security number is on my G-235A form though. Maybe they will see that and it will be okay?

I'm prepared for the RFE though. Per my timeline I should have some notification between March 15 and March 25. I will be in the Phils from March 10th thru the 20th. But if this is all it will be for, I can turn it around quickly even if it comes while I'm in the Phils. I did have a Fiancee VISA service check everything for me before they shipped it out, so I may get my money back for that service. Oh well. I've waited this long I can wait a few more weeks, provided this is all the RFE will be for.

Thanks for your comments, I had this all wrong. I was under the impression that if I had that thing that they need in my application then I could have been approved from the first time they reviewed my application.

The reason for our RFE was to show more proof that we've met in person. Originally we submitted e-tickets, dated photos and letter on how we met and that we've been dating since he moved to London. They are asking for further evidence as in ticket stubs or passport pages and stamps of joint travel or travel that he's been to the UK. This is a little tricky as my fiancé is a dual citizen of the US and the EU, so he doesn't have any stamps that shows he was in the UK. However we do have stamps that show we've traveled together. Also, his employer in the UK has written a letter that he was employed in the UK during the years we were together, plus he'll be submitting payslips that he worked there.

If anyone else has any recommendations on what else we can provide, we'd be very grateful. Many thanks!

I thought I would share my RFE experience here even if I already said it in the september filers topic.

So they want more evidence that we met in person...

Since I started to read on this website only some months after I sent our application, I did some mistakes.

-I sent them copies of my passport stamps BUT without the first page of my passport (which shows my name, picture, ...)

-I sent them only one picture of me and my fiancé together, without the dates on it.

-I did already sent plane tickets at least

So I guess that from correcting those mistakes, we will get our NOA2 soon *cross fingers*

I received an RFE yesterday with the following question:

  • INTENT TO MARRY: Which state does the petitioner and beneficiary intend to marry in (for example, California)?

Is this a question/box on either the I-129F or G-325A forms somewhere? Or should this have been added in the Letter of Intent to Marry? Where is it specified that this is needed?

Just wanted to share with you all what we ended up submitting, which led to our NOA2 approval.

We sent the following:

Passport pages from both of us (every single page from our passport)

Letter from employer stating that my fiancé worked in the UK

2 photos which we dated from two trips we took together (to match the identical entry stamps in our passports)

That was it! Had a cover letter and it was what they wanted.
