Hi ELW,

I should have mentioned we are 'second-timers'. I haven't updated our timeline here, sorry about that!

So my original question still applies... -Are they likely to get all pushed out of shape over a difference of 6mos? We got an RFE, but it looks to me like they are looking for things you have mentioned here before - passport stamps, boarding passes, and such.

Thanks,

-Mal.

Are you sure about this?? My Fiance and I were together last about 2 yrs and 6mos before we got the I-129 in. Is 6 mos. REALLY going to be that big of a hairy deal to them??

I thought it was required now I just saw your Timeline, so you were approved even though you last met over two years ago? :o I guess there ARE exceptions. congrats! :D (The requirement is for approving the I-129F so I would think your Administrative Review at the Consulate level is for another reason.)

Well! I wrote an answer but when I saw your Timeline I edited my answer out and wrote something else. What I wrote originally was that yes, it is absolutely necessary to prove that you two met in person within two years of applying, and RULES ARE RULES to them and even if it is a week over, they will reject the application. I hope you prove me wrong!

I have heard a couple of cases that filed a waiver of the meeting in person requirement, but they were refused. You have to prove extreme hardship of meeting in person to get the waiver, but I've never heard of a successful attempt.

You included copies of your passport page with visa and arrival & departure dates right? You should be OK. If you are worried, search through all your paperwork at home (and ask him to do the same) and see if you can find other evidence, then copy it and keep ready just in case.

when i was in the US visiting him in the summer, i also bought a cell phone with a US number from T-Mobile. But I put my gf's address (who also lives in the US) on that cell phone bill. still good to include that cell phone bill?

also, does my us fiance need the long version of his brith cert? i think he only submitted a copy of the short form

you need to send the detailed version. our rfe was because of it. maybe you might be ok..lets hope! otherwise, get a long version ready just incase you'll need it.

Hello Everyone!

We just received the RFE letter today at 4PM Las Vegas time (4days after Case Updated).

Whew! My fiance called me and we opened the letter together. We were so excited to see what was our RFE.

A good grief!!!

Here it is:

1. FORM G325 - Write NONE to questions and informations that don't apply to you. N/A is not an appropriate response. Don't leave any blank unanswered. (What the HECK??? This is the only reason for our 2-3 weeks delay. OMG!!!)

2. Translate in English all foreign documents to be submitted. (GOODNESS! All Submitted documents were in English language already. We called the uscis and clarify the second statement. No worries, just an additional info to be mindful with in case of any tagalog or foreign documents to be submitted.)

---------Nothing Follows------

Guys, you better watch out for this simple mistakes. Our case might help some filers here.

Have a nice day!!!

We've just be notified of our RFE... Haven't recieved it yet. I have no idea what on earth they could want. We provided passport copies, photos, engagement ring receipt, plane tickets, literally EVERYTHING! We've had so many visits in the last couple of years I've lost count. What could they want from us??

Hello Zoe and Hal.

We received RFE because they lost passport style photos that we provided with our original petition.....

So, it could be really really simple stuff that they want.

Good Luck

and then i noticed on the declaration of how we met in person... that i wrote the 4th instead of the 24th as one of the dates i arrived for a visit, i flew down to SC and included my boarding passes with our I-129F submission.... Now i guess i have to wait for an RFE.. altho im not really too sure how that will work other then possibly initialing a change because I sent the evidence in withthe application.... can anyone offer any insight?

I think you need not stress about many of the more insignificant errors.

If you were going through a higher fraud post it might be more fuel for the fire at the Embassy stage of the process.

Hi guys!!!!

We sent our I-129F package last July 21, 2008 got our NOA1 last August 14, 2008. Unfortunately we weren't able to follow the whole instructions about sending and the documents needed to send when filing the K1 visa. I just discovered Vj site after we filed our petition. We weren't able to send the cover letter and the letter of intent to marry from both of us...and we didnt put our names at the back of our passport size photos. So we dont know if we will get an RFE but i hope not. We sent the proofs that we met in person like pictures together and some other documents. The only lacking is the letter of intent to marry.

Until now, we are still waiting for our NOA2...hoping we wont get an RFE...

They wanted further proof that we've met... We bascially resent everything again, took up an entire 45 page document, i'm hoping it's enough for them this time!

Thank you. I appreciate the kind words.

Everything is wonderful! :)

Did you send them anything further? They need concrete evidence that you have been together in person within the last two years... things like passport stamps, boarding passes..etc. Photos and things of that nature are merely secondary evidence.

Good luck

Sigh.. its really re-assuring to hear people say im stressing out over little errors...

I just really dont understand the last line

"If you were going through a higher fraud post it might be more fuel for the fire at the Embassy stage of the process."

Umm what does this mean? I dont think an innocent typo is fraud since i sent in my boarding passes with the correct dates...

I'm sorry. I should have been more clear...

Some USEMs are much more strict than others because there is a high rate of visa fraud from those Countries. In places such as Vietnam, China..the middle east..etc. there is often much more scrutiny involved at the interview stage of this process. Anything you do in error can, and usually is, used against the couple.

So, something like an innocent typo or mistake is usually not a problem for the majority of us... if you are going through a higher fraud Consulate/Country... they are more likely to hold things like this against you.

What i'm telling you is that you are not likely to have a problem. The process is pretty stressful but you'll get through it. :)

Oh, that's awful. :( I'm sorry...hopefully they'll push it right through for you now.
