Did you send a birth certificate with the original application?

You can copy all pages of the passport and send that, no problem. However, birth certificates are needed for a lot of things, so I would just go and get some anyway. One can then be sent.

So he send in one that looks a little like this (see picture)

Don't worry, I found this one on google by searching for "birth certificate" :)

The only difference is that the ages of the parents aren't on my fiancées birth certificate.

Could they want another kind of birth certificate?

And on his there isn't listed where his parents was born.

Weird. The certificate looks fine to me.

May they misplaced it?

In any case, to be on the safe side I would go and get a new official copy from the department of vital records - or whatever your local office deal with BCs is called AND send a copy of all pages of his passport.

I think we will send the same birth certificate in again + a copy of the passport..

I'm just wondering, why would they accept a copy of a passport as proof of citizenship, when they specifically ask for "submit a birth certificate to establish the birth and parentage of -name-. The birth certificate must be issued by the appropriate civil authority showing timely registration, date and place of birth, and parents' names. In addition, the document must contain the seal of the issuing office including the date of registration and signature of the registrar."

?

I'm confused of why it would even be okay to send in the passport copy, as it says in the instructions to the I129F is perfectly fine?

The I129F instructions clearly list that utilizing a copy of a passport (all pages) is enough proof instead of a birth certificate.

Got our RFE in the mail today, 6/1 (USCIS website says it was done on 5/27). Met on an online game and I foolishly didn't specify **where** online in the initial application. They want to be sure we didn't use an international marriage broker and were trying to hide it by not saying where online.

Well I could see that be an RFE for me in the future too as I met my fiance online as well. I believe I just put we met online June 1st, 2010 then started our relationship March 20th, 2013, met in person on May 21st, 2013, and then listed the like dates and time ranges of all the times he's visted (like six or seven times).

Did you just have to send another letter in attesting as to where online you met your fiance?

just wanna share our RFE,

its just a question, if my fiance have ever been convicted? answer is NO.

and thats it.

Hey we got the same RFE...my fiance thought it only applies to military so he didnt answer it ;)

My question is...did you also just put a "X" on the line on page 2 of the RFE and then sign and print the petitioners name in the buttom?

Or did you also attach a completed version of the i129f form?

Thanks so much!

Also, how long did it take for you to hear anything back after you emailed them the response?

For the first 2 years of the 5 years (employment) in question, my fiance worked abroad in Spain. It is difficult to obtain record of work as the company went into liquidation. Would it be possible therefore to just state "Unemployed" for those 2 years?

Cheers

Sacha

I've noticed in your timeline that you got a RFE on IMBRA? Did the petitioner had any convictions?

what do you mean you had to send in financial information for the first step. I thought the financial part was for the interview and then later when change of status

hi everyone :)

i just received the noa1 via text and e-mail. but i have this strong feeling that i would get an RFE. just because i have mistakenly put some sort of dumb answer on the "place of issuance" of the certificate of citizenship. i put USA, which is really obvious to everyone that the certification of citizenship is issued inside the territories of the US. so i knew in the first place that i must put the city of the place of issuance but i was so dumb still to write USA. so now i have this big feeling that i would get an RFE anytime soon. i am just preparing for the worst.

so my question is, how many weeks would they send out the RFE right after the noa1?

would they send it via e-mail or in the mail (snail mail)?

thank you so much!

-mae
