Got the RFE letter today and it was not as bad as I assumed. They asked for more information on how we met, which I sent an extra sheet explaining how we met on a dating website. I however didn't put the name of the site. They want more proof of having met in two years. I sent photos, boarding passes and itinerary. I didn't send copy of passport stamps and I think that was a mistake. The last thing is a letter explaining why I traveled in my maiden name as opposed to my married name. I never changed my passport from my old last name when I married my ex husband. I didn't think I would be travelling out of the country again so I never changed it. I believe a more detail letter of having met online with dates and the websites name should help with the first issue. Then a copy of my passport should solve the second. The last I am a little unsure about. Do I send a copy of my marriage to my ex showing my name change and a letter stating that I got the passport before I was married and didn't update it after the marriage. Also should I send another copy of my divorce decree since I sent it with the package?

I received an RFE and responded with what was required. I have set up on USCIS to get email notifications of any changes/progress. Just wondering if I will get a notification saying that my RFE was received? Im a bit concerned as I have not heard anything.

Also I completely forgot to put the blue sheet on top of the package and I did not address the package attn: RFE. I am wondering if this is potentially the reason I haven't heard back.

I-129F

We got our RFE yesterday, we still don't know what they want us to send.

But we kind of have a feeling that it could be something about the G-325A form.

So my question is: when I put addresses and places I've worked at in the new G-325A, does it have to be where I worked at back when we filed or does it has to be an updated one with my new address and new workplaces ???

And we only send in 4 pictures of us together as a proof of having met in person within the last 2 years, because we rarely texted with each other so we didn't have much to submit back then, because I was an au pair so we didn't have airplane tickets and other stuff like that.. Do they only want Textes that we send to each other before we send in the I-129F or could it be some more recent ones?

Also, could they want proof that the dating app "Tinder" isn't a IMB ?

As far as the G-325A, you have to list all of your employment for the last 5 years in the following order: from most recent (wherever you were working at the time you filled out the form) all the way back, 5 years (if the form was filled out in 2015, then you would have to go all the way back to 2010). if there were any periods of unemployment, then you would put "unemployed" and the dates that you were unemployed.

As far as the evidence of meeting...unfortunately, pictures only qualify as "secondary evidence." pictures are great to add to the file, but you really need more substancial "primary" evidence. Texts and stuff like that would be proof of an "ongoing relationship" not proof that you actually met. I submitted my flight itinerary and proof of ticket purchase from the website, boarding passes, bust tickets with our names on them, proof of money conversion, the page from my passport/visa with the entry/exit stamps and as secondary evidence i added 10 pictures of us.

I'm not sure about the Tinder thing...it's possible but I don't know for sure.

Hope this helps! And hopefully, you'll get the RFE in the mail really quick so you can get everything resolved. Good luck!

Thanks for the quick response!

I'm getting more and more worried ? we really do not have any airplane tickets or anything like that because we lived only 40 minutes drive from each other, so no need to visit by airplane or stuff like that.. I'll just have to wait and see what they what.... I'm not going to have a pleasant weekend ?

You're welcome! try not to stress it too much! An RFE in most cases is a good thing because it shows that someone is actually working on your case! and once you get them the stuff they need, you should be approved shortly after! I'm not sure of this, but maybe you can include a letter explaining your situation and why you don't have more evidence. Also, try to get signed and dated letters from friends and family saying that you have met, and that they have met him etc. I don't know if that will help, but it might! Maybe submit a copy of your passport/visa just proving that you were there in the country at those specific times. i'm not really sure what else you could use...but anything and everything you can think of...just submit it! lol let me know what happens!

Don't stress about it.

It is entirely possible they have lost some of your docs and you have to resend.

If it is proof of having met, there are a few things you can do:

1. Affidavits of other people who state you met.

2. A copy of your Au-Pair visa that states you were in the US.

He send in this as an answer to the 34.a question. (Look at the picture I've attached)

Could this be enough evidence for the "having met in person" requirements?

And I also send in a copy of my au pair visa (J-1) with the I-129F

Hello VJ fellow members, we have just got the hardcopy of the RFE today. As I assumed, they need an intent of marry from my side and a passport photo... Easy job, my fiancé will send them what they need tomorrow:-) but I'd like to ask something... As they wrote:

"Intent of marry

Submit evidence from the beneficiary, xxx, that she plans to marry you within 90 days of her admisiion to the USA. Evidence of beneficiary's intent may be a statement, wedding preparations or other evidence that clearly establishes her intent to marry"

So:

statement=intent of marry letter (already prepared)

wedding preparations=we just discussed between us on Whatsapp, cos obviously I don't know when I enter to the US... How should we plan..?

other evidene=?

Any ideas?:-)

The signed intent statement is all they should need to fulfill the requirement... if you haven't got anything planned, then you can't give them something you don't have (and that they actually honestly recommend you not doing anyway).

Thank you! One more thing, as they wrote: "print the name and A-number (if any) on the back of each photo" - what is the A-number? Alien registration no.?

The Alien Registration Number (a.k.a. A-Number, A#) is a 9-digit number that USCIS assigns to visa applicants. If you never had a visa to the US before, you don't have one. A US citizen by birth doesn't have an A#, but a naturalized one does.

The A# is unique and is associated only with you forever, even after you become a US citizen. It first appears on your K1 NOA2 hardcopy. Throughout your immigration journey you will see it many times... I know mine by heart.
