they said it may take 60 days for a response!

Does it take that long?, I read on this forum it may be only two weeks!

Please let me know of your experience on wait time for response to RFE(Texas Service Center)

Is it possible to not be able to get the divorce decree and only be able to get the divorce certificate? We got RFE for "Proof of legal termination of marriage" and we had sent in the divorce certificate. Is the divorce decree only issued by courts? What if the divorce didn't go through court?

Both are legal proof you are divorced....just the decree is signed by the Judge. You may have to call to find out if the certificate is acceptable. I would imagine yes. They both generally have the same exact information.

Maybe you can take the certificate to get it notarized by the court clerk or something.

I sent in my official, stamped divorce certificate in the first petition. The RFE requested my divorce decree (a 150 pg. document with judge's signature). I sent that and have been waiting one week so far. THe other two items were mistake on their part (1) my birth certificate which I already sent, 2) my fiance's divorce decree - he was never married so I resent the bio page where we marked single for him and explained)

I got my approval tonight! So, since they received it 10/26, that is just a week and two days.

I'm the petitioner and am divorced. In addition to all the other requirements, I filed a divorce nisi as evidence of the dissolution of my marriage. While the nisi is a paper stating that the divorce was accepted by the court, the divorce does not become final until after a 90 day cooling off period (anticipating divorce remorse?). The RFE explained this very nicely and said I needed to get a certificate of divorce absolute (divorce decree) from the court. I was able to get one for a fee of $20 by visiting the courthouse. I got the RFE on a Monday and was able to send the requested evidence on Tuesday.

I'm so hurry when heard many people got app after 1 week or 10 days submitted RFE. Every second I hope, I hope I hope we can get approval....next week....

Very stupid, but when I checked, checked receipt every hour and got no updates, but just one times I did not check cause I was in the meeting, my finance checked, and got infos....

Wow, this link with a list of cases gives good insight for reasons of denial. Pretty straight forward why most people were denied.

Interesting read, and in a strange way, reassuring. But these are denied cases where somebody appealed. I'd also be curious about the ones which were denied and were not appealed.

Our RFE:

My fiancé forgot to check Questions 2 and 3 on page 5 of I-129F. He thought those questions were related to the first one about the Armed Forces and thought he wasn't supposed to answer them.

we got an rfe for not filling the I-129 F Form correctly by putting N/A to all blanks not applicable e.g spouse if you are single. Hope this helps!

I received an RFE on 10/30/2014. It was because I forgot to sign section on the petition which asks if you have a Criminal Background. I thought it was referring to military personnel only. So be sure and read it through and check the box to avoid an RFE.
