we received an RFE after 6 months of waiting :(

The RFE states "PROOF OF INTENT TO MARRY. You must submit evidence that you and the beneficiary intend to marry within 90 days of the beneficiary's entry to the United States as a K-1. Evidence may include, but not limited to, copies od the correspondence between you and the beneficiary discussing wedding plans, evidence of wedding plans such as announcements, plans mdd to reserve a venue for the wedding, or any other evidence of your intent to marry one another, including, for example (UNDERLINED: an original statement from the beneficiary establishing his or her intent to marry you within 90 days of his or her admission to the United States.) "

I mistakenly submitted a letter for myself and not for my fiancé.

Does anyone know if re-submitting just letters of intent to marry for myself and my fiancé will be enough for this RFE or I need to include plans for the wedding and venue as well. We haven't made any such plans yet since we are not sure when the Visa will be approved.

Please help. Thank you.

Well if you had sent both the Letters of Intent with your application you would've been fine.

But since you have received an RFE where they have specified the types of proof, I would say be safe and provide additional proof along with your fiance's letter. It's ok to not have made specific plans, maybe you could provide some chat records or emails where you two have talked about marriage and getting married.

I got an RFE today regarding

Quote

Intent to Marry:

From the evidence, it is not clear where the petitioner and benificiary will wed. Therefore, please submit a statement indicating in which state the petitioner and the beneficiary intend to marry.

Looks like the keyword is where. I used the intent to marry template from VisaJourney's K-1 forms. This does not tell what state in the US we are planning to be married in (my Fianceé is Canada -> US). We intend to marry in New Mexico but only because we're unsure if Oklahoma's anti-marriage equality BS will be overturned (the decision of the 10th Circuit is stayed for now). I'm not sure where I should say I should do it. I assume NM but I'm worried it may count as fraud if we marry in OK (we live here, it's cheaper) if the stayed decision is enacted before our approval. Also, I'm completely unsure what form they want the documentation.

Should I send separate completely retyped Letters of Intent from each of us back, signed as originals by each of us separately, adding "...wed in the state of New Mexico..." somewhere or just type a single reply to the RFE specifically and include the requested information with just my signature (I'm the Petitioner/Citizen)?

I'm sorry if this seems obvious but I'm really bad with official documentation, it gives me anxiety and I overthink things.

Received an RFE,and have sent back what they requested.Guys, what do you think it's next?

They will review it and if approved you will get an email of the approval and receive the NOA2 in the mail. You will also get a notification that your package will be sent to the embassy that will issue the Visa by the Department of State. Basically you will be waiting on the case number from the Department of State.

After waiting for five long months and reaching the fifth month anniversary of my NOA1, I called and an officer told me that I will get an RFE in the mail "soon". I don't know how soon or what it means, but does this mean my fiancé can't enter by December anymore? We were hoping for a small Xmas wedding. I'm heartbroken.

Its still possible but it seems the clock starts rolling after they receive your RFE if that is what they have requested from you. That alone seems to be a 1 to 2 week turnaround time with mailing, processing and notifying you of an approval or not with the NOA2. Than they send that to NVC which gets processed and shipped to your consulate pretty fast. We will be a week this friday when NVC sent our packet to Naples, Italy. Italy seems to respond to email rapidly and told us they haven't received ours yet. We are hoping for a Dec 8th wedding date.

I sent in my RFE on 09-02-2014 and they received it on 09-08-2014

they said it may take 60 days for a response!

Does it take that long?, I read on this forum it may be only two weeks!

Please let me know of your experience on wait time for response to RFE(Texas Service Center)

Thanks

yes it took 2 weeks for me too, but then again it all depends on what u got the rfe for, so if its a little mistake u made or something that wasnt done properly then u shouldnt have a problem getting a respond in 2 weeks time

I just got my RFE in the mail (sent 9/18 for a NOA1 4/17 application). It requests:

1) my birth certificate. (I included this already - it was an original freshly-issued)

2) my divorce decree from my previous marriage (I included this already - it was an original freshly-issued)

3) my fiance's divorce decree (we checked that his marriage status was "single" because he was NEVER married before)

So, frustrated, I called customer service to say that all these were in the original file and I HAVE PROOF. The level 1 agent just said "sometimes things get lost. Send them again fast or go see your local USCIS office and show them proof that you turned them in". I asked to speak to a level 2 agent and she said "if I transfer you it will drop your call because they are flooded and not accepting any additional calls today. Try them in the morning."

WTH, government?! I could scream. I'm delayed by weeks or more because they screwed up. This sucks.
