Every male I grew up with played with toy guns and no one killed anyone yet.

I can say the same thing. I was taught gun safety at an early age. We knew the difference between reality and fantasy. For some reason many people today confuse the two. I played video games too, and I had no problem keeping games and real life separate. What is wrong with people and society today where human life has become meaningless?

No it isn't and that isn't what I'm saying but to use your analogy if you have an alcoholic in the home you don't keep alcohol there.

You see where I'm going with this...?

I'll bet after they realized they had a maniac killer there, they DIDN'T keep guns in the house any longer...

Which has ####### all to do with anything.

Actually, it has EVERYTHING to do with disproving your flawed logic. Growing up with guns all around has nothing to do with one becoming a murderer... no0pb.gifno0pb.gifno0pb.gif

That would be because everyone in the house was dead and everything was taken away as evidence.

It provides you with agency to be one if you are that wat inclined. As I said at the outset, this clearly was not a healthy household. You can't say that the presence of guns in the house was irrelevant to what happened.

Why does it matter? I think everybody agrees that this psycho had a bad childhood; well-adjusted people don't go on a shooting rampage.

It happened, let the people of that community move on with their lives.

The point is that this psycho had access to guns when he shouldn't have and perhaps the cavalier attitude of his mother towards firearms had something to do with that.

Reminds me of the Brenda Spencer case, AKA the "I don't like Monday" elementary shooting. Her father gave her a .22 and 500 rounds of ammo for her 16th birthday. She wanted a radio. The premise of the thread is relevant. Idiotic, irresponsible parents are big part of the problem.

There are some gun aficionados who choose to blatantly ignore part of the reality as if admitting that guns did play a part in the story threatens them personally in some way and as a result they twist themselves into knots to pretend stupid behaviour is in fact perfectly reasonable.

Stupid behaviour is leaving guns around the house so that toddlers and children can access them unsupervised. All weaponry should be stored in such a way as to prevent accidental discharges. Anyone who is cavalier with weaponry is sending out a very bad message to those around them and trivialising something that is not trivial and should never be seen as such. That is what is so wrong and disturbing about some of the stupid that people are responding to this article with. Quite shocking really if they expect non gun aficionados to believe they are responsible gun owners.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .
