First off, I really appreciate this site, and all of the great advice. I know this question is probably answered somewhere, but I'll ask it again.

What is the best option for filing for my wife, IR-1, or K-3? On the page http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare#k1

It says that the K-3 is faster. However, I was told I needed to pursue the IR-1 route.

We plan/hope to all move together in May/June, which route would be our best option?

Regards

BB

It's not an or question, exactly. To attempt the K3, you have to have already submitted the I-130 petition for the IR-1 - the NOA1 receipt for that goes into the I-129f for K3 petition.

However! K3 is considered defunct around these parts. We don't see anyone get that visa anymore. So, you'll likely end up with the IR-1 whether you'd prefer the K3 or not.

Here's the I-130 guide for the IR-1: http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1

Here's the I-129f guide for the K3: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k3guide

And here's some discussion on the K3 being defunct: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/463739-k-3-visa-is-it-still-an-active-or-an-obsolete-visa/

The K1 fiance visa is faster. The K3 spousal visa,, these days, is not, even if you can get it.

You file the I130 for the CR1/IR1 visa... You can file the 19 for free after (k3) ... However... Having her here and the process complete by May/June is probably not gonna happen... These days it is taking 12 months... Be prepared...
