My fiancè has been working since March and it seems like we won't have any tax returns to show to the embassy at the time of the interview.

He never filed for taxes before and this is his first job.

We were thinking he should be sending me the following documents:
- form I-134
- copy of recent pay stubs (3 to 4)
- letter from his employer

Should we also include a letter, written from him, stating why he didn't file for taxes? If so, are there any sample letters online?

So far I've only found this sample for the employer letter (which is hopefully good enough):

<date>
To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is to verify that <name of employee> is currently employed with <name of company> as a <title of position>. He began employment with <name of company> on <date employment began>, and his/her current annual salary is <dollar amount>.

If you need any additional information, please feel free to call <company phone number>.

Sincerely,
<signature>
<printed name>

<title position of person filing this out>

Also, regarding question 11 in form I-134, what is a sponsor or co-sponsor supposed to write down? I saw in the sample forms on this site it just says N/A (K1 visa process for permanent residence) and was wondering if it's an accurate answer or not.

If anyone has any suggestions, they'll be muchly appreciated. We were thinking of maybe using his mom as a co-sponsor just in case and it's in my understanding she'd have to send the same documents as my sponsor/ fiancè.

Question 11 of the I-134 form does not apply to K-1 Visa cases. This is why in the example forms it says: N/A K-1 VISA PROCESS. You do not need to answer question 11 as it does not apply to you.

As far as not filing the taxes, you need to include a statement as to why he was not required to file.

Alright, will do. Does it seem like everything I listed is enough or not?

Yes, recent pay stubs and letter from employer along with statement as to why he was not legally required to file taxes. No sample for this. Just write that his income did not meet the required amount to be legally obligated to file.

If you use a co-sponsor, they provide their own I-134 and the same documentation, most recent tax transcript, letter from employer and/or recent pay stubs. They should also include proof of being a USC or LPR. However, Italy has been known to not accept co-sponsors so be aware of that. You can search here on VJ to find posts about that.

I e-mailed them asking if they accept co-sponsors and they said they do. However, I did read about it (them not accepting co-sponsors) on the embassy reviews on here. Hopefully everything will go smoothly and I'll have enough documentation with me. There's nothing left to do but crossing my fingers until then.

And of course, thanks for the info. :)
