hehe, actually that could make an interesting book. :D

Bathrooms are strange places really.

I know you're nervous but you'll do just fine I'm sure of it. I'm nervous myself but I know there's no other way around it than to go over there, so I'm just gonna hunker down and make myself.

It would be cool if we could have flown together. We could distract each other from thoughts of airplanes dropping out of the sky an all that. hehe

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

Well, I was waiting for an answer for the last week and I'm upset about it and I hate it after all this waiting already but honestly, there's nothing to be done and we've talked about it and we're both unhappy about it but... *shrug*

I cried for a few minutes when I found out but I was at work and had to go into the bathroom cos I didn't want anyone to see me so after a couple minutes I just went back to the Christmas party and blah blah blah...

:)

Anyways, I'm still very excited for you and I almost feel as if I'm somehow going with you. I hope you have the most wonderful time and I'm looking forward to hearing some wonderful stories when you're back.

I can't tell you how many times I've cried in the bathroom at work!!! I could write a book about it actually since it was for different reasons over the years. I could call it, "Bathroom Tears" or something. Actually that's a cool idea.........it could be based on several people who have gone into the bathroom to cry......stories of lost loves, promotions that were denied, interoffice romance difficulties, stress of a deadline, death of a family member but you had to return to work too soon, or just plain hormonal issues. Could have each chapter represent some new person going into the bathroom to cry.

Ok i think the stress is getting to me here. lol

You're bringing back such memories about "the trip" stress. Been there twice. Don't be distressed about your 8 hour layover. I had one of those and it ended up being about 40 minutes because of delays and a missed/rebooked flight. With international travel, even though they're boring, long layovers can be a godsend. This will be a life changing trip in many ways. Savor every moment, you'll never forget a one of them.

And regarding the bathroom crying... I've become so jaded after 2 years of this visa shite that I just brazenly cry at my desk now. HA HA. People just kinda walk around me...

im a little burnt, especially since we are BACK in FBI namecheck stateside, but really after we got the K1, we forgot it ALL for a lil while. Then AOS debacle set in.

in all seriousness, you do forgive/forget everything. when i look back to our 7+ months on AR, and now we have been on hold for 7 months post AOS interview, it goes by like a flash, honestly.

I was wondering how that was going for you, Laura. You know, I don't care how "careful" they think they need to be in the name of "national security". When this much time gets eaten up it smacks of incompetency on THEIR part. There is absolutely no excuse in this day and age of the greased lightening information highway that all these checks need to take so much time. Now I realize sometimes some hands on indepth stuff needs to be done, but HOW MANY TIMES? If they put you through the wringer once, then its enough. I think they forget we are human beings out here... I hope it moves through soon for you and you can put it away. I am hoping the visa arrives next week so we can heal from our ordeal. We're both so messed up right now it will be a wonder if we even recognize each other in the airport. We'll probably both just cry, hiccup and foam at the mouth only to be hauled away in straight jackets.

you're right Jean. we did enough crying at our approval call. that was the end of it. you are sooo thrust into the personal adjustment of instantly (relatively) being reunited, married, and back in the *journey* you just cope. what i have learned that the redundancy is not a concern. DOS is a VERY different animal than the DHS. (DOS for visas DOH for stateside AOS). DHS does not care how many police reports you have submitted to satisfy the DOS nor that security clearances have already been obtained. They want their own sources to provide them with information. period. it sucks but its the reality. the possibility we will have further trouble through lifting of conditions and naturalization is quite possible.

do note that many people who had AR overseas can get approved without an AOS interview or fly right through with no issue at all. we just have these additional hiccups.

Well, it's still Saturday here. I'm so tired I was falling asleep on the couch while watching one of my favorite old movies, Meet Me in St. Louis.

It's so cold. My parents keep their house about 7 degrees cooler than I keep mine, and I have to wear something warm in my house so I'm just basically freezing here. My feet haven't been warm since I showered this morning. The fact that they have wood floors isn't helping. :P I guess I can get warm in the shower tomorrow morning!!

Oh well, I guess I hear bed and blankets calling my name out.
