Hello and thank you all VJ members! Thanks God this website exist with so many helpful members...

I just want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong here by going to fast. i went to the embassy's website and payed the visa fee ($240) last Monday, and today I was able to schedule the appointment. During the payment and scheduling I was never asked for my case number, but all info on my fiance like passport number and contact information. Was I supposed to wait until the case reached Guatemala? My case was received by NVC last Monday. Would I be notified when the case leaves to Guatemala?

My fiance made her medical appointment for January 17. She was told that she needed to bring the embassy's appointment papers with the case number on it. We aren't sure if they were talking about the appointment confirmation sheet I got on my email since it doesn't have the case number. Or maybe is a letter from the embassy that would have the case number?

Well thank in advance for the help.

Eliezer...

Thanks Kmiami15.

My case is still at NVC according to that link. I already got my case number. I'm guessing we'll need to wait until they get it at the embassy for them to send that letter to my fiance. I'll have her call them to see if we have any options. The only open appointments were for January 31. I didn't even bother to check for open appointments for march or later. I jumped and grabbed that in Jan. I hope that doesn't bring up any issues with the medical and whenever they receive the case on their hands.

Thanks again...

you are welcome... it should not be a problem... a lot of people get medical and all of that completed before the letter arrives (if it arrives)... from what I read in Mexico, most of the times it does not arrive (bad postal system)... I actually had found an appt for February and we checked and were able to change it to January.... so I agree with you, you grab what you can.... basically once the case is received, it will update on that website I gave you to "ready" .... like I said, just check with the embassy for the letter, maybe you can just get a copy of it and take it to the interview... my fiance will be doing the same.... the day before the interview, he goes to the window gets the letter then has the medical and next day interview... done deal... keep us posted...

when i called in my embassy they told me not to pay anything or fill out ds-160 or schedule interview until i received instructions from the embassy.

so i had to wait for my case to arrive in the embassy and then i scheduled interview and submitted ds-160.

but different embassies have different rules

Hi!!

The embassy should send you a packet to your email it says your case number and the embassy name and everything you should call them to ask for it they are a little slow on that part

What letter does he need to get at the window? I received a letter addressed to my fiancé saying to fill out the DS-160 form and that was it. Is there something else?

Nice! Thanks again and let's keep our cases on God's hands!

I was looking at posts and you live in Sarasota! I'm from Punta Gorda. It makes me feel better to see they're people around me going through the same thing! Good Luck with everything!
