This is a great Xmas present. I got it last year.

Alfred Hitchcock - The Masterpiece Collection

Anyone seen Rope? That's a seriously messed up movie...

Am also a big fan of Akira Kurosawa - mostly his old Samurai pictures. The new DVD version of Seven Samurai is remastered and looks like it was made yesterday.

Rope is fantastic. Definately one of Hitchcock's most underrated.

Arsenic and Old Lace

Classic Cary Grant - comedic thriller. :)

I love Cary Grant. I LOVE this film. Once I read how Cary Grant hated this film and it was never the same watching it- but still I love it.

My favourites:

  1. Sound Of Music (despite of it being somewhat late for a "classic")
  2. Suspicion (original version with Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine)
  3. It's a Wonderful Life
  4. Ten Commandments (1956 well-known version)
  5. Ben Hur

Seven Samurai is a great film! George Lucas borrowed so much from that film when he made Star Wars, like the part when Han Solo is yelling while running towards the Storm Troopers and they instinctively run away. :star:

Yes, I LOVE Rope. Everyone says that it's one of Hitchcock's worst or least remarkable, but it's my absolute all-time favorite Hitchcock. Did you know it was all shot in one take?

It was shot in a series of 10 minute takes if I remember rightly (based on the length of run time for a film reel). There are discreet cuts which you can see if you look closely. But it is a very clever movie.
