Montreal train station

Okay the 747 doesn't go to the train station... It goes downtown. You buy the tickets at the arrivals section, there are bunch of orange signs. $9 for one trip and like $18 for 3 days. (which you can also use on the metro)

What I would do is decide WHERE you are staying. Then decide how far to take the bus. Here are the stops and sometimes you have to walk a block to two to get to your hotel but it's better to walk a block, IMHO, than take a cab that costs $40 for the same time to travel. The bus does not go all the way to the consulate, and the train is a block or so off Rene Levesque Blvd. Meet at your hotel.

I stayed at the best western on rue Drummond and it was very nice, even for the tiny room I had. But I had to stay a week and was looking for a deal. An expensive hotel may be nice for a night. smile.png

Also I don't speak a lick of french and managed my way around downtown Montreal for a week. You'll be fine. biggrin.png Downtown is probably the easiest area on non-francophones.

OH forgot to add.. here is the list of stops for the bus going towards downtown. It's like a normal bus and doesn't stop at each one unless you tell it to so pay attention to where you are. http://www.stm.info/en/info/networks/bus/shuttle/line-747-east

As described by NLR, absolute best solution is to meet at your hotel - take the 747 bus from the airport. From the Bonaventure-Centre-ville train station it is a short walk or a less than $5 by cab. There is a train station closer to the airport (Dorval train station), but you have to take another bus to the airport (or walk, but I wouldn't recommend that in the winter) and the 747 (or a cab) back to your hotel.

Small correction, the 747 certainly goes to the consulate and even farther East: http://www.stm.info/fr/infos/reseaux/bus/reseau-de-navettes/ligne-747-est

Also, the 747 buses have wifi, which is helpful to text/email for free if needed.

Trying to read that bus schedule and a regular map was about to make my brain pop. Thanks for the correction! LOL

No worries... I took that bus about 10 times and I've lived in Montreal 30+ years, so.... that's about how I know, the list of stops is not clear. Better on the map here: http://www.stm.info/en/info/networks/bus/shuttle/more-about-747-aeroport-p-e-trudeau-centre-ville-shuttle

Now that I think about it, it's not too much more expensive than when I first started flying out May of 2012. We just stay at the same hotel every time, so we started getting discounts emailed to us, which helps out a lot. Since embracing that it'll be expensive regardless, my new mission is to convince the fiance that we should stay at Le Phillip ;-)

Thanks for the tips, all smile.png

Oooh I stayed at the Le Phiilip's when I went for my interview and I would give this place 2 thumbs up plus it is so close to the consulate. You can cut thru the parking lot in the back and go out thru the alleyway and bam you are right at the doors of the consulate. The staff at the hotel were amazing, super friendly and our room was huge. I think that I found a deal for $161.00 taxes in per night.
