If he was world class Ice Dancer and a hottie instead of just a Hockey player, or if he was married to a Politician or someone else really famous, then he could of had an Act of Congress giving him Citizenship--i.e. Belbin or deportation on hold--i.e. Herrera.

In accordance with Georgia law, "The Georgia Security and Immigration Compliance Act," I am required to display the following in any and all languages that I may give immigration related advise:

'I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY LICENSED TO PRACTICE LAW AND MAY NOT GIVE LEGAL ADVICE OR ACCEPT FEES FOR LEGAL ADVICE.'

"NO SOY ABOGADO LICENCIADO PRACTICAR LEY Y NO PUEDO DOY ASESORAMIENTO JURÍDICO O ACEPTO LOS HONORARIOS PARA El ASESORAMIENTO JURÍDICO."

So... yeah... i find it quite ironic that DHS officials were dressed in hockey jerseys when arrested your non-hispanic husband, considering your husband is a hockey player.

I agree with you, your non hispanic husband shouldnt be deported, because, well, hes a non hispanic. This is the most racist thing i have heard all day. Congrats!

About that thing about Gods will, and not interfering with a relationship. God does not control the USA. The government does, and just because you were in the army for a few years, doesnt exempt you from following the rules and laws.

We are all here to do this LEGALLY, and sadly its because of ignorant people like you, that the process is so difficult for us.

It puts a smile on my face to know that DHS is doing their job!

Matt..I like your style!

I guess this story is supposed to show how unfair the rules can seem, but it actually comes off as a cautionary tale. It actually shows how important it is to play by the rules, or else, and this couple got the "or else."

My husband and I have been apart 9 months, and are always met with puzzled people who believe you can simply marry a USC and stay in the country. But as YuandDan point out,

Getting married does not automatically generate a green card, and make some one a legal resident of the country.

nancyk, you sound like an intelligent, articulate person who knew the risks but chose to ignore them because they weren't convenient, or they didn't jibe with your view of your own importance in your own eyes and God's. And yes, it's difficult to talk about illegals without sounding racist. But now you have to use your smarts to accept the fact that you broke the law and need a plan for your family to go foward. I wish you good luck.

Yeah.... Deportation always equals Mexican, doesn't it? *sigh*

Canadians get deported, Israelis get deported, Brits get deported, Czechs get deported. Why the emphasis on your spouse being NON-HISPANIC?

It's your own fault anyway... you've had 5 years and still didn't file the paperwork. No sympathy from me.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

this has to be a troll...just yesterday someone here was referring to a friend citing God's law as reason to not break up a family, and now this?

It maybe but it is being reported on an abc affiliate as I did a google on the dudes name.

YMMV
