Hi,

I filed for an adjustment of status in August of this year. The status is pending and we are waiting to be scheduled for an interview. I am currently on a J1 visa (as an exchange teacher) that is valid until July of 2014. With the form DS-2019 I am able to travel if I get it signed by someone from the Exchange agency. I have done this a few times before and it never was an issue. However, now I'm reading that if you are waiting on an adjustment of status or have applied for a green card, you must obtain an advance parole or the application will be void. Is this true even if my visa is still valid and I have travel validation through them? Do I apply for the advance parole?

I have a trip scheduled in March to take some of my students abroad for a week...

Thank you,

Eveline
