Already are. That has been the case for the last decade or so.

i.e. by a noticeable margin between now and the next few months or so.

My cost for RV/Marine batteries has gone from $40 each to $110 each over the last decade. Blame the devaluation of the dollar for a good chunk of that. You see the same increase in other metal products like steel and brass. In California, some of that is because of lead content rules, but it is more than that -- the dollar just doesn't buy what it used too.

It won't matter much - the states begin phasing out lead bullets soon enough for hunting.

We shoot oodles of .22 ammunition. 500+ per week so buying a few "bricks" of 500 rounds is just a month's supply. It isn't like they go bad or something. I have not had any trouble getting any sort of .22 ammunition here

as for "hoarding" well I have purchased large quantities of ammunition when I come across a good deal. I was scouring a gunshop in Tempe, AZ once, many years ago, and found a large stash of .348 WCF ammo in the back shelves. The stuff was 1960s vintage and still had 1960's era price tags on the boxes. I asked what they woud actually sell it for and the guy said ..."buy it all and I will give it to you for the marked price"

I have. A case of .22 I ordered in April (long since given up on) finally arrived in early November. Somebody's either hoarding or it's going somewhere else or its not being made. All of the local stores have been rationing .22 since last February, and I haven't seen that in the 40 years that I have been shooting.

So you are saying that you can just go out and buy a brick of .22 anytime you want? I haven't been able to buy a whole brick in 10 months (except for the case of bricks that took months and months to arrive) - only 2-3 50 or 100-rnd boxes. That's in Texas so it isn't like we are in some gun-control utopia. Even at the gun shows they are selling bricks of junk Thunderbolts (try to get that cr-p through a semi-auto) for $100. No - I didn't bite LOL. The CMP sent out an email last week saying that they are 35,000,000 rounds back-ordered on .22 and don't bother ordering any.

So - your post doesn't reflect reality here in Texas. Or in Louisiana - I check every time I go through. Or the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

Just sayin'. This is typical -

"Item not available" means there ain't none. So: Tell us all again where you are buying it? LOL

Sorry to hear that. Seriously I can go into any number of places and buy multiple bricks of various .22 ammunition. Alla uses Wolf Match target for serious shooting and Federal Lightning for just banging away. Yeah, no problem at all. We bought a stash just before Christmas. The indoor shooting league starts after we get back from Ukraine and she shoots her M41 S&W...couple hundred rounds a week. Alla paid $79 for the brick (500 rounds) of Wolf Match ammo, which is the normal price, right about $8 per box, and $21 for the Federal Lighting (500 rounds), which is only slightly higher than we paid last time...19.99 for 500.

We do not mail order it, I buy it at local gun shops. I do no tbuy it at Walmart, have no idea what the situation there is. We also do not have the population of Texas...not even of a fair sized Texas suburb of Houston or Dallas, so maybe that's why. Could be comin' ???? As for now no issues.

She also bought 2 boxes (100 rds each) of CCI .22 CB longs for basement shooting

Interesting. Your situation appears to be the exception, not the rule.

No one around me has seen .22 for sale for at least a year except in limited amounts. $50/500 is the norm.CCI .22lr.target, Way too much / round me thinks.

Overrated? Oh yes, definitely. At $1000 there are any number of equally accurate .22's that you could buy TWO of. I use a Ruger MK2 Bull barrel which is perhaps less than 1/2 the price and just as accurate. (I bought it years ago so I do not know the current price of one, but I guess less than $500) I also like the High Standard target pistols.

Alla has the 5.5" barrel M41, the video is of the 7.25" barrel model.

Obsolete? How? It is a .22 semi auto.I wouldn;t really care about that. Most of my collection is "obsolete" and many of the guns require that I handload for the cartridges they shoot.. Is the M1895 Winchester obsolete? I guess so, but so what?

Is her Winchester M52b sporter obsolete? It is a .22 bolt rifle of high quality. Is it overrated? Maybe. I suppose there are any number of rifles in that price range that would do as well, maybe better.

Alla wanted the M41 because, well, she wanted it. Liked it better. Good enough for me..

Both her rifle and pistol are fine firearms and very accurate and classics in every sense. Despite my efforts, she shows no interest in skeet shooting and no interest in shooting bigger guns. She likes her .22s..is satisfied with having one rifle and one pistol which are her "own"

Me? I get bored, and bring 5-6 handguns to the range to shoot, or 5-6 rifles. She can bang away all afternoon with one rifle, contuinually trying to make a smaller group on each target.
