Divorce final. Any Immigration procedures?

Hi all. Well my divorce is final. Decree came through wednesday. Was K1 originally and I adjusted status 12 months ago. My green card expires in about 12 months too. Im back in the UK at the moment. And although I would really love to go back and live back in the states (feels like home now) I dont see it a possibility to be honest. Does anyone know if there is anything i need to do now as far as Immigration is concerned now its all final?Thanks in advance.

Kerri Visits England for a month 25/05/04

We get engaged following a wonderful weekend trip to Brussels as a birthday treat for Kerri.

K1 Petition Received by Nebraska 17/07/04

[10/01/05 Interview in London. Success - K1 Visa Aproved!

28/01/05 Kerri & I get married!!

20/04/05 Mail out AOS & EAD forms 1 day before due!!

07/07/05 EAD Received but returned for incorrect DOB!!

31/08/05 Hurricane Katrina Rolls into New Orleans, we pack up and evacuate to Cordova TNcolor]

25/11/05 Corrected EAD finally received after being mailed to New Orleans the day after Katrina

20/12/05 AOS Approved without interview after transfer to California.

28/04/06 I head back to England for 3 to 4 months whilst my wife completes a training shcool.

07/05/05 Things are looking up!! I get a well paid job. Ive started my driving lessons1

29/05/06 My Wife tells me she is not ready to be married and wants a divorce.

18/06/05 My wife officially starts divorce proceedings.

If you are abandoning your residence - then all you need to do is - Nothing. (My brother did this a few years ago also.) All you need to do is make sure and file your taxes (perhaps married filing separate or single - check it out.) Good Luck

Thanks i just wasnt sure. See I dont want to do or not do something that might give me difficulties entering the country on Visa Waiver in the future.

Only for the time of the year they were in the USA before they left. Otherwise, by giving up residency and leaving the US you cut all ties to the US government, and that includes the IRS.

Why not renew and keep it active? You can even get citzenship since i think Britain allows duel citizenships.

Thanks. Me too! Anyone who read my posts in off topic will know how much I loved her, and how much of a shock it was.

Why not renew and keep it active? You can even get citzenship since i think Britain allows duel citizenships.

Yeah I would love too. Thing is its the whole chicken and the egg situation. To be able to live over there I need a good job and to be able to get a good job I need to live over there! You know the hardest part of our split is I dont get to be with her anymore. But I had made a life out in the states and considered it home. Now if she hadn't have been so sudden about everything we could have sorted things out like this you know, but I was back in England when we split. There are many people and many places I miss back there, but then again maybe it all seemed so much greater because she was in my life.
