Absolutely front load your petition. We sent a few pages of scanned photos, copies of passport stamps, hotel receipts, and 7 months worth of skype, yahoo, emails. When it came to interview, they had all of that at the embassy, and didn't ask us for anything else. Ours took about 9 months from filing to my wife getting off the airplane. I think it's actually rolling a little faster right now. Just keep an eye on igor's list that was mentioned before. It will give you an idea of how long things are taking. Remember...the gov't can slow down without any warning. Never lose faith though....Good luck!!

Hi all,

My fiancè and I are starting the K1 process and are completly new to this.

I am from Italy and she is from NY, would someone be able to tell us about the current timeline of the process. We have spoken to lawyers and they said since there is a

delay in the gov't it could take up to 10-12 months rather then 5 months. We would like to hear from someone's

personal experience regarding the timeline. Also, is there any way to speedy up the process?

Does anyone reccomend to do this process by ourself or better with a lawyer.

.. Recently I got denied twice for a J1 trainee visa- would that stop me from being able to get a B1 to go visit my fiancè?

Thank you!

Ours took roughly 7 1/2 months from first filing, to her arriving here.

There is no way the speed up the process. USCIS has no interest in providing speedy results.

There is no reason to get a lawyer unless you have certain red flags in your case that need to be negotiated around.

No time frame is guaranteed. Could take 5 months. Could take more than a year. It's 20% having everything filled out and done right the first time with no complications, and 80% luck.

Hello I can just tell you my experance so far I applied for a K1 visa in late August early Sept 2013 I got the I129 form approved on November 6, 2013. The NOA2 ( Notice of action) form. The approval is good from Nov 6 - March. Anyways I am seeing people online take a few months for everything others it takes a year.I guess if you have to keep sending proof back and maiing things this can hold things up. I have read that there goal is for it to take 5 months. Good luck on your journey.

Also I am not using a lawyer. You can find samples of forms on this website and others to help you. Most is roughly easy. Just follow the directions, and I have called the 1-800 number customer service twice and they are very nice and helpful. At the end of the conversation I always tell them how nice they are.

Todos,

we included hotel receipts from the places that visited. That, accompanied by a couple pictures AND organized with boarding passes and passport stamps were intended to demonstrate that we were in fact in the same country at the same time, and eventhough the hotel receipt only had my name on it, the evidence suggested that the story was true. A lot of people here are right, include anything you can that you think will be important.

Besides photos and traveling tickets, what other proof should we sh

The USCIS also wanted me for proof to get 2 people to write how our relationship is real. It does not have to be long it must include their full name their address and how they know you. I got my dad to write one and a co-worker at work to write one also it does not have to be notarized. I would only send about 4 or 5 pictures they are not interested in tons of photos. Also do you two send emails or video chats. You can print these out ( don't worry if they have personal adult stuff in them) you can scratch that out with a black marker.
