Not at the outset, they didn't. There was, and still is, little organisation to actually fund. But don't let reality get in the way of another fallacious media angle. ;)

By the same token here, one group of tea partiers seems to be totally different from another. Without centralised leadership and a very broad, very general mandate you can get racists or fascists saying that they stand for the same thing as more moderate people.

But, as stated previously, their racism forms no part of the policy aspirations of the Tea Party.

The policy aspirations of the Tea Party? Which Tea Party are we talking about here? And what precisely would those policy aspirations be and how does the Tea Party - again, which one - propose to achieve them?

Tell you what: The Tea Party will largely disappear when Obama leaves office in January of 2017. Why? Well because the Tea Party's policy aspirations will have been achieved in full on that day.

All of which goes to show that the campaign of disinformation and distraction works on some people. :(

Misinformation and distraction? Thanks for your concerns but I don't watch FOX News.

Tea Party - TEA as in Taxed Enough Already, right? They came up with this "Tea" Party revolt against the federal governemtn at a time when federal taxes were at their lowest in decades. They should have been out and about in the 1990's and early 2000's when federal taxes were significantly higher than at any point under the Obama administration. But they somehow surfaced when Obama was President and federal taxes were at historic lows. Odd, ain't it?

Higher taxes under Bush and Clinton, no problem. Lower taxes under Obama - let's protest our being taxed too much. In fact, let's protest and oppose hundreds of billions of dollars worth of tax cuts under Obama because we're taxed enough already. But I'm the one that fell for misinformation? Gimme a break!

Look, we'll know soon enough - it's only three years until Jan 2017. My prediction is that the Tea Party will be largely irrelevant if not off the radar altogether by then. Support for the Tea Party is already declining. Why?

They failed in their bid to unseat the President after his first term.

They not only failed in their bid to take the President's majority away in the US Senate but they actually are the ones solely responsible for there still being a Democratic majority in the US Senate. They pissed away several Senate seats over the last few years by replacing viable GOP candidates with nutbags and lunatics that could not win a statewide race.

The Tea Party has achieved absolutely nothing beyond a costly and unpopular partial shut-down of the federal government. That is their sole achievement.

The GOP knows all this and is thus starting to push back on the Tea Party since they serve absolutely no pupose but rather are doing a disservice to the GOP. As a stand-alone, the Tea Party is absolutely nothing. It cannot win elections. In fact, in a winner take all election system, a stand-alone Tea Party competing against Republicans and Democrats would all but guarantee solid electoral majorities for the Democrats.

Mark my words: The Tea Party will disappear as it does not have anything viable to offer.

As usual, this has nothing to do with the subject at hand and merely repeats your hyper-partisan, biased viewpoint. Why not address the actual topic of the thread?

Oh good Lord. Anti-tax movements rose in opposition to legislation that cut taxes by hundreds of billions of dollars at a time of already historic low federal taxes. You don't think that's odd? As they say, there are none so blind as those that refuse to see.

You mean the topic where lostinblue reaches out to his black "brothers"?

Re-writing history again? And still missing the point entirely.

The presentation may be a bit lacking in style, but the core question was an interesting one. ;)

Whether or not you agree with the Tea Party's core message of smaller government, is there a valid argument for a Black Tea Party?

We would welcome our black brothers .People have seen that big government could care less about them.. Except for the few weeks before the election. People have gotten tired of the kool aid that the liberals have doled out. The Black grievance industry run by the REV Jackson and the like has had little promise to many people. Look at JR in prison, He worked out so well.

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

How could you possibly welcome, and refer to as brothers, the very same people you claim to be the scourge of American society?
