Lot of people do not put collars on outdoor cats. 1 reason is that they could get caught up on something if they had a collar on! I have rarely seen a cat with a collar, in Canada or here.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Lisa, do Mimi's stitches have a 'shaved' patch around them? I'm just wondering if maybe someone else caught her in a live trap, had her spayed and released her again. If she was someone else's cat, I wouldn't expect her to be wandering about w/out a collar.

Yeah she's got a shaved patch, Trace. But this looks like a cut that was sewn up...like a gash from a fight or injury...not like a dr incision for gettin spayed.

I'm so confused with this iccle girl...but I (L) her so I'll keep tryin to find out the 411.

Hmmm very interesting! I guess if she is getting cared for elsewhere, there could be worse things!

She's just supposed to bring a little mystery to your life, that's all! :)

Hey, i'd like that actually....I'm allergic to her so she can't be in the house here, so if she has somewhere to be for harsher weather, that'd be perfect!

My friend just moved to North Carolina. She split up from her ex who had a cat, and she had one too. So she said she was concerned about her cat being alone again, since her ex wouldn't give up his. These two cats were together for like 10 years or summat! So, I asked if she wanted Mimi (this was a while ago) so that Mimi could have an indoor home. But then I thought twice, cos this friend is a bit insane so if Mimi didn't get along with hers, I was afraid she'd just let the cat out & then my iccle girl would be stuck outside in snowy weather! So I actually DO hope she's got somewhere else....lol, she could be a timeshare kitty.

Alex - I'm in Jacksonville but most I know are in the phone book? Could you do a yellow pages search?

Lisa - I JUST read this whole thread. I am so impressed! I was NEVER a cat person until I got my ugly kittie. Now I ADORE her.

In terms of the surgery - boarding her in an animal hospital i sonly 10 bucks a day here. We just boarded our cat for two weeks!

Cats are sooo funny. My cat NEVER liked to be picked up. Loved to be petted but on HER terms...never slept in our be d- would just hop up for a pet and then leave.

Since we left her at the kennel for two weeks, she is a new kitty. She is CONSTANTLY wanting love and attention - she lets me pick her up - she sleeps in bed with us all night. Funny!!

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

Timeshare kitty.

I agree w/ mags about the kitty kennel. Maybe set it on your back porch or something.

As long as she has a place to get out of the elements, she should be fine. Esp. for the seemingly mild winters you have in Fla.

You could always buy her a little kennel and put a cushion in it. That way, when it is cold she would have somewhere to shelter from the extreme weather.

I got one of those pop-up cubes. It converts to a bed....she's sat on it in one of the piccies that I put on here. But if you pop the thing up, it's got 4 sides, a ceiling, and a hole on either side so that she's not cornered it with only one way in or out.

That's what it is :) Same pattern too....everything I bought for her is leopard, lol

That's really cute.... :D

Is it waterproof? I was just thinking it might not keep out a good downpour. Mind you, she's a cat, they are quite resiliant little buggars, I'm sure she has quite a few hidey holes!

aww ty Caro....yeah, I was soooo not a cat person, but she is seriously the most precious thing I have ever seen. We're bonding so much every day, it's great!

The whole 'get her fixed and board her up' angle is not confused with the appearance of these stitches...I have to find out who did that even if I have to call every vet in town :(

The porch has a roof , so it's dry as a bone for her :)
