Aww thanks everyone (L)

Tracy....I am finding that cats are more selfish in a way.....she comes here, she eats, she nuzzles me for some lovin, then she fcuks off when she feels like it. Sometimes she'll be on the porch and I call her and she's all 'biotch you come to me!' lol

I am also finding the shedding to be ikky. Any cat experts out there who can tell me if there's anything I can do? I only ever owned one dog in my life, and that particular breed (Westie) didn't shed, so I find the shedding to be high on the ick factor, lol.

:D Cats are that way - independant minded. Though I have to say, my cat is a very cuddly sort, so it really just depends on each cat's particular personality (and possibly what their past was like). One like Mimi who is totally outdoors (I assume?) and never been a 'pet' is probably much more independant minded. Mostly out of necessity - to take care of herself and survive. But that can change once she trusts and is around people more. Hard to say.

Not a whole lot you can do about shedding. Short hairs (like Mimi) are better than long hairs though. Plus depending on what the weather is like there, she may just now be getting her 'winter coat' - so she will be shedding more than usual.

We haven't gotten there yet to where I would feel comfy brushing her :( Until I can take her to the vet, I'm trying to limit our contact since she's a stray and may not have been vaccinated.

I'm not sure what the answer is but I expect that there might be a cat resue organization who would be happy to help you -- we had a stray living under our house who wouldn't let us touch him and I was very concerned about him. I contacted this lady who rescued cats (got her details off Craigs List) and she came out, trapped the cat, arranged cheap vet care (including a neuter) and then we released him back in our yard. We tried finding owners (put up signs and everything) but no one turned up, though we discovered many people in the neighborhood were feeding him.

He's still around - he won't let us pet him but he will eat the food we put out.

I agree with robinlake. There are 'live' traps that don't hurt the cat but would enable you to catch her, get her the once over (vaccinations), and release her again. Perhaps your local shelter would know where you could get one.

isn't it logical that if cats could climb up a tree, they can climb down? if they could not, would we not see cat skeletons in trees all over the place?

I had a short haired cat and a long haired cat.. the short haired cat shed more...

the shedding also depends on their diet... I noticed when I fed my cats the cheaper cat food they shed more...

Well she is SOOO your cat now!

She looks so much like my Gracie! Cheeky too!

Good luck with her and congrats on your rescue!

Hope you heal comfortably and well!

Didn't know that about the food either! Interesting!

I'd say if she's an outdoor kitty, she is probably catching some of her own food. I am not the best judge of what to feed a cat, as I leave a bowl out for my cat all day (though never over 1/2 a cup, and she never eats all of it). :D

It should say on the can what to feed an adult cat per day. I feel ashamed that I don't know!
