What documents to bring to USA? & question about cellphone =]

Okay, so we finally purchased flight tickets for the 24th so my fiancee will be here then.

When she lands here in the United States, she'll be going through San Franciso international airport as her Port of Entry. We know to bring the Visa Packet to show at POE, now in terms of being able to file for social security number and doing our adjustment of status.

What does she need to bring in terms of important documents?

I just know perhaps her Birth Certificate and thats pretty much about all I can think of, what else should she bring?

Another question about the cellphone, so when she arrives here, I want her to be able to contact me because she'll be on a layover in San Franciso for about 7 hours, I hate not having any way to contact her since she doesn't have a sim card that works in the U.S.A.

She does have an unlock GSM iPhone, at first I thought about sending her a sim card but its a little too late now since it won't arrive in time for her to fly, how did anyone go about doing this? I heard of companies at the airport that can provide her with a simcard but that's very unclear. Someone got some tips or info?

Please and Thank you's =]

Regarding AOS refer to visa journeys guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Here's a link to the Social Security office's website. This shows what documentation she'll need in order to obtain a SS Card. (Be sure to click the noncitizen tab on the left hand side) http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/ss5doc.htm

I don't know what you can do regarding the cell phone situation but airports do have public payphones which are available to use..

Thank you_

I am constantly searching google for a cellphone option of some sort_ but can't seem to find anything. Of course payphones are always an option I suppose but last I check those don't accept quarters anymore? She has a bank card but thats union pay and I don't know if the payphones will accept that. Lets hope so.

I know in this day and age of cells phones most people forget that there is this device that looks like a telephone with a handset and cord. You use a credit card or money and dial numbers on it. Yes, I am talking about a pay phonedevil.gif. You can purchase a calling card and give her the numbers to use so she can call you. There may be a way for here to purchase a sim card at SFO, but do not count on it.

Another thought would be for you to go meet her at SFO and spend the 7 hours together--I realize this may not be possible due to job schedule and finances, but that is what I would do. I was fortunate that my wife arrived in Denver and that was her POE and final destination--I did pay a bit more to go direct from FRA to DEN instead of a stop in ORD.

Since the I-94 is electronic, once you can print out the information at the CBP website, you can head to the SSA to apply for the SSN as the information is already in the system. The wait 2 weeks was when you received the paper I-94 form on the airplane and filled it out and handed it to the CBP employee and it was manually entered into the system. Another thing that can hold up the AOS is the Marriage Certificate. You might want to see how long it takes to get copies and if it is a very long time, just make an ordinary photo copy of the Marriage Certificate to include in your AOS package and then when the official copy arrives take it to the interview should you have one. I sent in a certified copy plus they IO took the copy I brought to the interview.

Have her bring copies of documents that she can only get in China in person like her BC.

Congrats on getting to this point and good luck,

Dave

All terminals in San Francisco offers free wife http://www.flysfo.com/wi-fi

Assuming she has a smart phone, both of you should install at least two different

video call apps like Skype, WeChat, ooVoo, Viber, etc.

As you probably know, all these apps allow free voice or video calls to each other.

Wifi signal varies by location, so have her get to a nice sitting area with strong wifi

signal and call you.

I would bet a few bucks that she will meet another Chinese on the plane who is living in the US with a US cell phone that would be happy to let her make a call. San Francisco has a pretty massive Chinese population.
