Fox is #######, but IMO so are basically all other major news channels. I read journals and academic stuff these days. If it's on TV, it's bad.

It's particularly a problem with American news channels. Most everyone else remembers how to differentiate news from opinion/propaganda.

Back to the book - looking at the Amazon reviews of Zealot and having just finished reading it myself I can tell that most of the negative reviews are from people who most certainly have not read it. Getting through a 336 page book is an awful lot of work for someone who has already decided that because of the author's current beliefs that he should not write such a book. Reza Aslan is a critical thinker. He is a scholar. I guess that's why he a spends great deal of time contemplating his own faith, past and present. If you're a sophisticated enough person and you actually read the book with an open mind you can see he is revisiting a lot of historical texts that the general public doesn't know much about. You don't have to agree with the conclusions he draws or the pictures he paints from those texts, but at no point reading it did I feel like he was writing this as Muslim opinion on Jesus. I have seen plenty of books like that, this was not one of them. Any Joe Schmoe religion studies PhD could have written this book with enough time and resources.
