i fly to the us by feb 14 which is friday philippines time and arrived in the states on feb 15. we plan on getting married a week after my arrival. if our plan is going to work out the way we want it, i can file my AOS a week after our marriage yet by then, according to what ive read here that i have to apply for my SSN atleast 2weeks from my arrival so my name is surely on their system and no need to manually verify it. given that time frame, if i send my AOS and i still have no SSN or in the process of getting one after i sent my AOS, will i have a problem? i know most forms i need to fill up are asking for ssn (if any). my question is, can we send our AOS+ead+ap even if i still have no SSN ? or should i wait for my ssn before sending all documents? i wanted to have my docs process asap so i can help my fiancee with expenses as we are expecting a baby :) thank you and merry christmas

Ssn and aos are not in any way connected. Apply for ssn abot 2 weeks after entry in your maiden name (even if you already got married and want to use married name boing forward). When you get your EAD/AP you then can go back to change name on your SSN.

Don't worry about AOs asking for SSN, its not required, to them Alien number is the one that identifies you most. Good luck!

We filed my wife and stepson's AOS paperwork approximately 2 weeks after their POE. Neither of them had SSNs. Hers was waiting for the sloths at CBP to input data into their SAVE system, the boy wasn't eligible to file for SSN until he obtained his EAD/AP combo card. We had no problems. The longest wait for us was getting the certified marriage certificate from the county records department. Check out our timeline and signature block for details.

Good luck and Happy Holidays!
