Christmas Tree Lane in the Los Angeles Area...

In 1885, real estate magnate John P. Woodbury—of the Woodbury Family, the founders of Altadena - planted 134 deodar trees (Cedrus deodara) as a grand mile-long driveway entrance to the mansion he would build. Woodbury's mansion was never built, but the trees thrived and the “driveway” became Santa Rosa Avenue.

In 1920, Altadena resident and department store owner Frederick C. Nash organized the first tree-lighting spectacle. From that first December when deodars were decorated with colorful lights with the goal of attracting shoppers to Nash’s store, one of the most celebrated Los Angeles-area traditions was born. The Lane is recognized as the oldest large-scale outdoor Christmas display in the world,

Every Christmas season for 86 years now, the majestic deodars on the “Mile of Christmas Trees” are strung with 10,000 lights.

I'm starting to feel very Christmassy!

I've been cleaning my butt off today since we are having some friends over tonight, some of who are visiting from out of town.

Sujeet got to come home a little early, and now he's home til work again on Wednesday! yay!

not sure if I mentioned it yet but the in-laws are coming over for dinner tonight and to see our tree....

we are going to have honey-garlic chicken wings... YUM! YUM!

Hubby is out right now getting my Christmas present.... he always leaves it to the last minute :P

and tomorrow we are having 2 of our nieces over for a sleepover and they are going to help me decorate some cookies....

well, I am kind of down now.... after rushing around all day getting the place cleaned up.. his parents aren't coming for dinner.... his mom has rehab on Fridays and I guess she didn't realize how tired she would be after....

10 year GC Approved - APRIL 16th ,2009 - Peggy and Jonathan's......

Still waiting for our cards...Had to file I-90 as they sent them to the wrong address.

March 9th, 2010, Received GC that has been lost in the mail for 10 months. Still waiting for my son's that is lost as well.

Filed Waiver for my son's 10 year GC and it was approved. He finally received his GC after its been missing for 2 years.

Thanking God this is over for 10 years.

Happy/Merry Christmas to everyone! :) Just got back from town...grocery shopping mostly..things I needed to leave until the last minute, like ham slices for ham rollups,etc....ended up spending plenty tho... :wacko: always happens that way!! Got a couple of other last minute things too...omggggggggoshhhh were the stores JAMMED!! The whole parking lots were full and lines going back down into the lot waiting to turn to wait to get to the stop light...yipes! Madhouses! Anyway...Corey loves to cook, and he stirred up a couple of double batches of dough for rolled/cutout cookies for me, so I'll bake them tonight or tomorrow. Been raining all day and has turned to big snowflakes/slush/sleet out there..so looks like we will have (at least a little bit!) of a white Christmas after all! Would have been the first year in MANY up north here where we didn't...was starting to get a little worried there! :) Anyway...happy holidays to all! :) Michelle
