My husband will have his interview on January 8th at the Consulate in Casablanca in Morocco. I have just a couple of questions that maybe someone may be able to help me with.

First, in the papers from NVC I do not see where he has to pay a fee for the interview and I have read where that is usually a fee of $100 for the interviews in Casa...do you know if that is only for the K3 and K1 interviews and not the CR-1?

Second, from what I read in the papers, it looks like all the papers needed are already there at the Consulate because they were sent to the NVC during processing...has anyone who might have gone thru this Consulate found any "surprise" forms or papers that their husbands or wives needed at the interview time?

Third, I am told that the security checks for the CR-1s are suppose to be done in advance of the interview, therefore the immigrant should be able to be told on the day of the interview if he will receive the visa or not....has any one who has gone thru this Consulate found that to be true?

I have a lot of information concerning interviews and the procedures about security checks regarding the K3 and K1 visas, but very little information when it comes to the CR-1 visa.

Finally, my last concern about his interview is that our K3 petition was declined and I have not been successful in getting USCIS to address this matter. It was declined because USCIS says it sent me the RFE with the 3 questions regarding IMBRA...I never received this RFE. In fact, I called the customer service center numerous time to inquire about this RFE because I knew I was to get it. I filed on the old I129f form. The customer service center could never tell me that an RFE was sent to me...they would only tell me the status of my case and told me I must wait my 6 months. After I got my denial letter for not responding to the RFE within 81 days...I called the customer service center and was finally able to talk with an officier and he explained to me that the reason no one was able to address the RFE during my calls, was because it did not show in their data system as being sent to me. So I have followed up and tried to get USCIS to address this without success. I do not want to spend almost $400 for an appeal.

So here is my question...does anyone think that the denial of my K3 will cause a problem with the CR-1?

I know this in long and I thank everyone and anyone who responds with some advice and help.

Hi Linda,

I can address the first two questions.

I don't know how it works in Casablanca, but my husband and I paid the IV FEE Bill to the NVC. Besides the I-130 and the I-864 Bills, that's the only one we paid. It was about US$ 360. No more money was charged at the interview.

We were only asked for his 2005 Tax Return papers at the interview because we hadn't submitted it to the NVC. It's a long story, but we had to file an extension for living abroad. We brought tons of proof of relationship and nothing was asked.

Now for the last question, I don't think it matters what happened to your K3. I don't think it will influence the Embassy/Consulate's decision to give him the visa or not. If he's honest and if questioned says what happened, they have no reason to deny it. But that's just my opinion.

Anyways, I hope someone that went thru the process in Casablanca can help you! Good luck on his upcoming interview!
