Matt85,

How do you spell buzz-kill? Well, that would be the above!!!

I fly business class, unless I get fcuked out of the deal. In that zone, free premium drinks and food, and no worries!!!!!

For those that don't drink, study up on something!

I usually pre-game while im waiting for boarding. Im thinking of investing in a fake beer bladder that is disguised to look like a beer belly.

relax and enjoy the flight. there's more of a chance of being hit head on by a drunk while driving your car than the engine falling off a 747 or doing a belly landing in the ocean. if you make it driving to the airport, you'll be OK. ;)

I do ok with short flights but long ones ...well that's another ball of wax.

Basically if I can visualize everything that could go wrong, and accept it, I think I'll be ok. Well that and a sedative or two ;)

So........................................what's the worst thing you can possibly think of that would happen on a transcontinental flight?

Doodle, I can't believe you started this topic!!!!!! :P

I'm not even gonna read past your post.

I'm too chicken.

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

Maybe that's because you are already trying to acclimate to Cairo time? :P

as long as you dont fly china airlines, then you will be fine. It took them about 30 minutes and 5 presses of the call button to get a damm Pepsi. Argh

Oh no, no Pepsi for 30 minutes? Yikes! :o

It goes without saying but 30 minutes is unnacceptable.

But for a worst case scenario.

Your sitting comfortably in the window seat, reading the most current Entertainment Weekly, when suddenly you notice fuel pouring out of engine 3. Then before you can even gasp.. boom... the entire engine explodes, shearing off the wing, and tearing through the fuselage. Your Entertainment Weekly is ripped from your hands. And you are ripped from your seat. As you are being sucked through the huge tear in the side of the plane, the shredded rubble of whats left of the wing cuts your body clean in half. Then you begin a 39000 ft descent into downtown Trenton New Jersey. You are still consious up until your face meets the asphalt.

Thats your worst case scenario

And you spill the Pepsi that you waited 30 minutes for.

I never saw the gremlin or the snake movie. Snakes don't really bother me...I mean what can they do really except weird you out. They can't really take a whole plane down right?

I think worse than crashing...well maybe not worse but definitely not a good thing....would be if like the pilot and co-pilot keeled over and there was no one who knew how to fly the thing so like a stewdress (sp?) took the wheel with the help of radio..like in one of those Airport movies and we basically sat in fear the whole time, though made it through with a crash landing.

That or having half the thing lop off somehow and being on either end.

Does anyone know if you would die before the plane hit the water or would you actually drown?

ETA: I'm sure y'all are praying you don't sit next to me on your next flight. The conversation would be a real hoot! lol :energetic:

Doodle,

You sound EXACTLY like I did on my first trip to Egypt. I was stressing about this and that. Finally I just told myself whatever happened was ok because that was how it was supposed to be anyway. :star: Everything will be fine though.

I'd be grateful if I *never* got a Pepsi..... now Coke would be another matter entirely... ;):)

I too HATE hate hate the long-haul flights. I've been on many one or two hour flights, but I'm not at all comfortable being on a plane for 8plus hours. I've never been a big fan of flying at all, but the shorter ones just seem like..you're up, not in the air long, and you're down. TransAtlantic is like...omgggggggggg SIX more hours of this tension??? I tried depriving myself of sleep, but it never works for me...I can never relax enough to go to sleep even on no sleep the night before. I think it will be valium or something next flight...don't care if I'm barely coherent when I get there for the first day or so... M.

Ah, flights to Asia from the US are like 12 hours. Now that sucks!

Oh it can get worse. My last flight to the Philippines stopped in Guam for fuel but we didn't get off the plane while they were fueling, so the total time on the plane was like 16 hours, geez! :help:

That is crazy thinking..I guess out of some long shot it could happen but on transcontinenal flights. they have 2 sets of pilots. they switch after 8 hrs or so of the flight or about halfway.. even it is just a short jump across the pond I am sure their is a back up crew :D

There's also the possibility of a terrorist hijacking the plane to crash it on top of the foundations of the Freedom Towers.
