I knew you would not have an answer because folks like you so often*talk* about the need for these students and others to present such topics for discussion but the truth of it is..... you can't do it, or at least you can only engage when your view point as the stage or the microphone or the ink.

I asked serious question.... you dodged.

Younger people tend to be more emotional and extreme in their viewpoints... I do find it amazing will all the photos and words in blogs and forums like these where we see extremest expressions everyday that we have a problem when someone has the tenacity to stand out in the open and do it in our face. I learned a lot about lynching today.. Reading about the rise of the KKK and then seeing the numbers rise in that table in the 1890's created some realization for me about how it was back then..

I look at it and think, "What a #######." I hope that was her goal, you know to be considered a #######.

For sure she is hugging tight to an old grudge which I think handicaps people.. She will be getting lots of feedback.

I think the OP is looking for a burst in feigned outrage from all corners of the Earth.... Get on with the program!

i'm not supposed to be outraged when the prolifers stand on the corner's of busy intersections with their full color posters of aborted fetuses? they don't even try to label that as 'art'. just going for shock value to gain attention to their cause. interesting.

One can be mad about both. I personally am annoyed by this and the fetus folks. And usually the pro-abortion folks, depending on how loud and annoying they are. Protesters in general are an annoyance for me when I'm not involved with the movement.

there's a definate difference between this and protesting.

this student was attempting to voice an opinion through art. no one was hurt, people are talking about the topic she was attempting to invigorate so, seems like her art was successful. imo, this sort of 'art' is exactly what college is for..you may not like it, or get it, but it is this student's right to express herself. i don't care one way or the other..all i can think about is how tramatic this must have been for someone who's experienced the trauma of finding a loved one hanged but that's probably just my sick, overly empathetic nature.

Have you seen it? Do you think seeing it is important?

In my opinion, this is simply someone with very little ability to express a POV, instead she piggy-backs a stunt onto something outrageous... to get attention.

You see it is sooooo much more difficult to write or actually speak out your thoughts..... to gain an audience.

This is cheap.

I watched and would love to engage the person... but she prefers stunts to dialogue.
