I know, right?! She throws in words like, "um," "whatever," "like." I know that people in other countries often have English as a second language from childhood, but, she speaks better English than most Americans I know. It does make me curious about her visa history and her work visa denial.

My point is she is a smart cookie. She uses college level vocabulary, too.

FYI

Some of you will get a kick out of this!!!

i not twitter/twatter/twaddle/tweet, but is it normal for kirlyam to not have any tweets at all? Or do I have to be a member, and logged in, to see them?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

It is possible she can have an account with no tweets. And you can see her public page it is not restricted. It is a bit odd though I agree.

As far as the person PMing people here, I don't want to out this person's name on here but she's also on the facebook forums asking people about submitting their personal stories for the series. Be wary if you're in those communities, too.

I made the sorry mistake of watching the first episode plus some webisodes on TLC's site. I don't even know what to say. This portrays our whole fight and the whole process as a joke. TLC is garbage. There is nothing about "Learning" at TLC anymore. This makes me sad.

I don't know whether they are actors or not. I suspect they are since the Russian girl's English is far too good. As for the webisodes, they are about "Len" and "Alina" and I guess they're not included in the episodes because he ended up cancelling the K-1 visa.

That show just makes a mockery out of the whole system and out of what we all have to go through - whether we're K-1 or CR-1 / IR-1 filers.

It gets better by the end though. I agree the original hype and portrayals were pretty bad. And they're not actors, one of the bridesmaids for one couple is in a FB group I belong to, and some of the couples are actually members here.

I disagree. I liked the show. It may have target less aquatinted couples, but this is the reality for thousands of relationships that go through the visa process. The show had basically less than one hour to cover each couple(10-12 minutes per show). What do they show on TV? Of coarse they show the more interesting moments and try to create a "cliffhanger" But....anybody who has watched any amount of TV knows this.

If the ratings were good enough...there will be a second season or whatever. Plus...everyone is aware of the type of persons that would agree to this type of show.

What do you mean by that? "What type of people" would agree to this type of show?

I assume eieio means attention seekers or people seeking to further or launch their entertainment careers.

I used to work in reality TV many years ago. There's never any shortage of people who want to get involved in shows, and their reasons may be laudable or not. This is entertainment, it's not educational, and it's not for everyone. If people want to get involved and they get paid for their services, what's the problem? No one's being prostituted here.

Season 2 should be the post-K-1 married couples.

For the right price my wife and I will put on a good show. Throw some chairs, break some dishes, whatever seems fun.

November 14th, 2013: She's here!

December 12th, 2013: Picked up marriage license.

December 14th, 2013: Wedding
