Just got my delivery of Peanut Butter Patty Girl Scout cookies at 8:00 am this morning. It is now 10:20 am and the whole box is gone.

1200 calories and 64g of fat......$3.50

Getting sick from peanut butter OD and getting a half day of work.....priceless

I think the girl scouts are in on a grand consipiracy with the weight loss industry. I should have suspected something was up when the girl scout delivered the cookies in her new Escalade. Freakin rims were spinning and everything.

The widow of the man who created the Atkins Diet on Wednesday presented a $16,000 check to fourth and fifth grade students at North Side Elementary School in Fort Lauderdale to help pay for a field trip to Washington, D.C.

The check is an award of sorts to a group of school children who refused to sell unhealthy snacks as a fund-raiser.

I found out that my daughter's troop only receives around 50 cents for each box sold, so I just wrote a check for $100.00 to the troop. I figured that's the same as selling 200 boxes and less hassle in get the cookies delivered and collecting the money. Last year I got stiffed for about 20 boxes.

I like the Samoes the best, so I did buy a few of those at one of their cookie booths.

They sell these cookies like crack! We're all addicts....how can you resist the creamy deliciousness of a peanut butter patty? It's impossible and they know it! Don't even get me started on the carmel ones. These girls are pimpin these cookies and in this case I'd say pimpin is easy.

Tons of boxes were delivered all over work today. I bet even the smokers ate more cookies than the number of cigarrettes they smoked. They talk about second hand smoke, but what about second hand girl scout cookies! People leave these up on their desks and say take one. There's a health hazard for you.

I hope these girls raise enough money so that they can take care of me after my heart attack.

I no longer buy the cookies. The are fattening and addictive as well as being overpriced and I think they use intimadation tactics to sell them (in the mall, store etc.) If you look at the g/s website it says "That decision is made by each local Girl Scout council, so the portion varies from one council to another. Nationwide, an individual troop/group receives from 12-17% of the purchase price of each box sold. The troop holds the money earned in its treasury, and its girl members vote on how to use that money."

I don't think 12-17% is much of a commission to give the local troops. I believe 70% goes to scouts and they say 30% to the bakers. I want to know what that the scouts do with that 53-57% of the money.

I suspect they pay some of their "admin" people a big salary and heaven knows what else they do.

There are times I feel badly for my decision to stop buying the cookies ...hey I was a scout and our house was even the cookie house one year ....all the walls of our house were literally lined with cartons of cookies.

But I resent the money some non-profits "keep" for administrative purposes. Sorry for the rant but I've dealt with non-profits on a professional basis and seen some of the salaries on their IRS 990 filings....and I always want ask....what part of non profit is this ????

I was a girl scout back in the day, I don't rememeber selling them-mostly because my poor Mother was the one who had to do all of the work.

Personally I don't care for any of them................but I have bought about 6 boxes-out of GUILT!!!!!!!!!!! Kinda hard not to when they are at the freaking atm machine & they know you have the money

I have a big box that held about a dozen boxes of the peanut butter patties (my favorite!!) in my van. I try to resist the temptation to bring one up to work as I know they'd be gone in 30 mins.

Right now I think I only have 1 box left.. (so much for resisting temptation).:lol:
