What's the best way to end a marriage?

I believe she would also need to get a Judicial Recognition of Foriegn Divorce.

Not necessary. It's part of the Family Code. If the foreigner files the divorce, it's recognized by the Filipino Gov. I know been here done that.

After a week of marriage all we seem to do is fight over jealousy issues and perceived wrongs.

Clearly there is no fault to throw out but clearly too, this will not work.

Any suggestions on the easiest and least painful method that is fair to both parties to end the relationship?

There is simply no easy and least painful method to end a marriage. Jealousy and perceived wrongs? Time to step back a bit, slow down on pointing fingers, and build the trust. Communication is the key.

Choose to stay with your wife for all the things she did right and not leave her for 10 things she did wrong. Sorry, I simply DO NOT believe in divorce or annulment.

Actually they do have to get the divorce recognised as being properly done first before the CEMAR can be annotated and show the Philippine citizen as single again. In other words if there's a CEMAR, the divorce needs to go through the Philippine courts before the NSO can annotate the CEMAR and make the Philippine citizen single again. If its still a CENOMAR at the NSO, foreign marriage not reported, there is no reason to bring the divorce through the Philippine courts to have it recognized as nothing changed the status of the CENOMAR.

Having the right to be considered single again, does not mean there isn't a required process to get that distinction again.

The easiest way would be for you both to drive your convertible into an open, raging volcano.

What a great idea. But perhaps would be more welcome on the China forum...

Give it a year ! We used to fight once a week for more than a year before coz of our differences. We are just so inlove to each other to give us up. I guess first year of marriage is really hard. Be patience on her and compromise. Value the vow of your marriage.

Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years.

irreconcilable differences would be the best choice . Depending on the state as each one is different in NJ you had to live a part for 6 months until you could file . I divorced my wife under those grounds and was granted a final decree after 6 months . I hired a parallel legal to help with the papers and with my wife since I was in another state . You can do this all yourself if there is an easy settlement and you both agree . The cost was about 2,000 and I paid for my wife's end , to end it as quickly as possible . What my wife did to end our marriage was beyond simple jealousy and perceived wrongs . Yet I still tried to save the marriage and finally gave up and started the divorce . Perhaps find someone who is Filipino who can understand your wife and best be able to talk to the both of you . To end a marriage over jealousy and perceived wrongs just seems silly and wasteful . You know what is in your heart and know best to do with this situation . However I can not just give advice to end it without trying to help save it . This is a long and hard process more then just a visa journey . It is a journey about someone you fell in love with and the road to be reunited . I pray you both find the right path what ever that may be in the end .

Thank you all for your responses. I was so embarrassed by the question I closed my account and now wish that I hadn't.

I agree with most things said here, especially the drive into the raging volcano.

I also agree very much with the "at least six months" concept.

Unfortunately, Juliet packed up and demanded to be taken to an airport and is en route to her sister's place in Arizona.

Since this is an old thread, I'll leave this at that and start a new thread in Adjustment of Status (Green Card)

No need to be embarrassed. Sometimes these things work out, sometimes not. Just always strive to do the right thing, and remember no one loves yuo as much as you or your momma does. :)

Sorry to hear that.

So Juliet is headed to AZ... coldest time of the year right now here.

Maybe talking with her sister things will settle down...

If she stops by there are a couple Filipinas that could share "war stories" with her, then she would learn there are lots of emotions and feelings to fight through... but there is a rainbow also.
