CEAC for K1

Can someone quickly clear this up for me.

When checking the CEAC my case number refers to an immigrant visa (K1).....however is in fact an non-immigrant visa till

AOS.

Is this correct????....normal?

That's correct. I read somewhere that it's technically considered a non-immigrant visa, but is actually and immigrant visa as it allows you to immigrate after filing for AOS. Kind of confusing.

This gets worse as you progress, especially at the Emabssy stage, where everything (in London at least) refers to "Immigrant" whilst various DoS portals stubbornly stick with "Non"

I read somewhere (probably on here) that it is considered a non-immigrant visa, as it only confers a 90 day stay and the immigration bit technically occurs with AOS

It is non-immigrant hence why you/we need to adjust our status (essentially to an immigrant) after marriage. As always though, this is just another lovely example of the lack of communication between the different authorities and the confusing nature of this whole process. As long as it says K1 an you are a fiancée and that is the visa you were filing for, I think you are fine

Oh and I've just checked... Mine says exactly the same
