Yep. China thinks in generations, not years. The world's oldest civilization will win in the end. Of that, the Chinese are certain.

Worlds oldest and arguably least stable. The only thing old about China is the genetics and culture. Just about every government under the sun has existed there for a bit.

Even when China was conquered, the bureaucracy remained Chinese and largely unaffected, especially if as a bureaucrat, you didn't mind losing your testicles.

That's one of the ways they pinpointed testosterone to male pattern baldness. You'll never see a bald eunuch.

Anyway, I think China has too many domestic problems to deal with to become any real threat. The aging population is going to be a real problem for them going forward. Devaluing their currency is going to come to a head at some point and the availability of cheaper gas and improved automation in the west will be something that stands to take more manufacturing from their base. China needs less people. Maybe in a couple generations, if the government survives, they will be in a good spot. But they're going to have a tough road getting their and they're still pretty far behind. I'm in my 30's and I'll never live to see the US toppled as the military might of this world.

China just wants to raise the cost of us operating there. It's a calculated move, very Chinese.

Glad you caught it. 50 points to Slytherin !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

The U.S. does to their land mass. No country can survive without owning their own airspace. China starts spending a lot of money on their military for many years then we can get all worried about China. Our only decision is do we want control in their areas of influence or not. Russia is still along their border.

It seems to me all China wants to do (for now) is demonstrate that the US does not have free rein in their backyard.

It would be hard to make a stand when you are leading from the rear,

Last time I checked the US was still patrolling and generally behaving just as before China's claims to the areas in question. Not electing to fire on the Chinese vessel is hardly 'leading from the rear.'

Oh no, a President is honoring another country's customs. We're conquered. He should've just walked in, punched him in the face and sh!t on his table.

A real President would throw up on him at dinner.
