On all the areas except " all other names used " On I-130 and G-325A we used my wife's family name and middle name which in the Philippines is the mothers maiden name . Under all other names we put my family name except on the G-325A which we included her previous married name from a divorce . Is this the correct way to do this ? My concern is the visa that will be issued as we want to have it be my family name . Or is this something that is done at a later stage of the game ? My wife right now is using her maiden names until she can get the chance to change all her ID's which can take some time in the Philippines .

Thanks for the help

Hi there..im not sure if the last name of the applicant/beneficiary can be changed once review of petition has started, but what i did was i used my married name for the I-130 and G325A to avoid any hassle. Days after our wedding i started changing my ID names.. For the LTO driver's license, it only takes more than an hour for my status and name to be changed. I just brought a certified true copy of the marriage cert from the civil registrar since NSO copy takes time (ours was about a month). I did the same thing with Postal ID. The hard part was the passport. You should have the NSO copy of the marriage cert and attend the CFO seminar (for spouses and partners of foreign nationals) before you can renew or apply. We sent our I-130 even though i dont have my passport yet, by the way.

So for me, i think it's better to use the husband's last name now and while you guys are waiting for your I-130 approval, have your wife change her IDs, attend CFO, process passport, etc.. Good luck! :)

In all forms should be the name after the marriage especially when the petition is CR1. She should use your family name (husband's name) thru the entire process to avoid delay and problems later on.idea9dv.gifgoofy.gif Most importantly her passport should be husband's last name.
