I've been looking over the I-864 form over and over again.

Here's the deal: My wife does not make 16,500, therefore does not meet the 125% mark.

You can use assets to correct that, 5x the ammount... or is it 3x?

The form says the following under part 7 (For Government Use only columm)

The total value of all

assests, line 29, must equal

5 times (3 times for

spouses and children of

USCs, or 1 time for

orphans to be formally

adopted in the U.S.) the

difference between the

poverty guidelines and the

sponsor's household

income, line 24c

So is it 5x for me? Or 3x since I am married to a USC? We could make 5x barely, but 3x is much easier.

We have a joint sponsor, so if it is still 5x we are not going to take the chance, but if it is 3x the hell with the joint sponsor. It's a bunch of paperwork we can forget about.

Anyone have any experiences with this?
