Sounds like most of the gatherings I go to. Many stinky foods, sticky foods and rice, of the nonsticky type.

Our wedding reception was catered. Normally they do not do rice, told them rice was definitely needed, we'd even provide it ourselves. No can do, but they have an asian in their kitchen, so they can work out the rice. Day of the wedding and receptions and it turns out the asian was an asian of the sticky rice variety. Talk about a big fail, Filipinos are not into sticky rice at all.
