I'd wager a guess that since they are less inclined to be picky or even notice grammar/pronunciation mistakes, they'd get the gist of what's being said better than a native. Hubby has a Chinese friend from school, and while I can barely make out a word he says, hubby seems to understand him pretty well.

I think two people who speak English as their second language would communicate much better with each other than if one of them was a native speaker... Speaking from my experience laughing.gif
