*Why is the past tense of shine "shined" for shoes but "shone" for the sun? "He shined his shoes as the sun shone." I don't see how anyone ever learns English as a second language, oj nie.

Hubby has a particularly hard time with things like that. He came across a sentence in a book he was reading that said something to the effect of "all the things he had had had had no positive effect" and was boggled by the fact that we can use the same word four times in a row and still make sense. :) I love English.

Every time I see the word "mug", I think of my beloved mug.....

I have a slew of favorite mugs and soup bowls, though I thunk the fact that there are several defeats the purpose of them being "favorite".

JTB, you'd be proud! I cooked today and it was edible :)

As my German french teacher once said, "English is difficult because there is a lot of exceptions and very few rules. Most romantic languages, like Spanish or French, have many rules and very few exceptions."

man....it's super quiet here today.......

How dare you guys not talk in my absence......

I woke up at 11:30 and had a nap at 2pm well if you can call it a nap. It was more like lying in bed pretending to be asleep so someone else can run after the wild child.

I wonder ####### is going on in some people's heads as they make an already difficult journey even more difficult on themselves. In other news.. I can't say... it's a personal opinion about AOS... but my brain looks something like this: ranting33va.gif

Also, thank you to everyone who said nice words about our visa approval. Couldn't have one it without VJ. :) Yes, I am waiting almost the full six months from the medical to leave. Work was kind enough to grant me a "leave of absence" for 2 years, so that if circuit turns out to be a serial killer, and somehow I escape death, I can come back to my position. But, they will only let me go in May, hence, the waiting.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!
