Oh that one. I kind of wondered about that entire situation. A little harsh, but you're not going to get much from a guy only making 18K a year. She needs to wake up to that fact.

What kinda baga worms did the skipper open now?

It wasn't fishing worms.

fighting a computer which appears to have major issues. Only two years old, and the dang thing corrupts files. Hard drive replaced and it still happens. Memory all checks good, reseat memory and still occurs. Replaced power supply and I think its still happening. Down to motherboard or processor, but don't want to throw good money after bad in buying replacement motherboard or processor and still have to worry if something else is causing all the issues. headbonk.gif

Boot it with a KNOPPIX CD and run some read/write tests , looking for similar corruption on new files.

If it persists, disable any onboard disk controllers, and put in some high-falluting disk controller card.

If it not persist, you've an OS problem.

Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I'm beginning to believe either one bank of memory was bad, or the control to said bank was bad. The memory test software was not catching the problem. This may take a while to totally solve. Might just bring this machine home and play with it on occasion until the mystery is solved. If it wasn't so slow at work right now, the machine would be in the trash or at home already.

I think personally the three who attacked Brother D were out of line. He's allowed an opinion as well. Then again, it's hardly unexpected given which three went on the offensive.

I'm a fan of a bootable Knoppix CD in my toolkit. Easy to make and store and use.

It's really ok - I've thick skin. I don't need 'pertection' on this one..

Darnell didn't say she should, he asked what's to stop her. The op could easily say, because they mean the world to her. But yes there are some here that think you shouldn't put forth a question as harsh as that. Or say anything that might make a person think beyond the poor little old me drivel seen so often in that part of VJ.

I know, just voicing my opinion as well :P

After all, you know what they say. They're like orifices - everyone's got five, six or seven of the bloody things.

How many of your orifices are bloody right now? You might want to see a doctor about that.

Indeed.

Thankfully, none. :D
