Any recommendations on where to find & buy ceiling-fans that are really skinny and essentially hug the ceiling?


I shall de-dish the dishwarsher (dishes were uncharacteristically warshed right after dinner, in deference to needing to go to bed at an unheavenly-early hour for arising at an unduly-early hour for a road trip that will probably keep me off VJ all day Thursday and this is one of our patented run-on sentences si man), si man.

Well, we tend to bump our head on the current ones, which are probably original to this semi-ancient casa, ouch man. Both have mechanical failings and ought to be replaced if the price is right, $i man. Where to find & buy? Lowe's & Home Despot are the obvious choices, but perhaps there are others.

I got my fans at home depot the neck/extender is optional, I haven't seen anything that fits closer to the ceiling then that. It's ok for most of us but two of our boys are well over 6' so they need to be careful.

TBoneZ - ya, that vertical neck thingie:

1. you can cut it down or

2. should be enough mounting gear inside the box to make a flush mount in the ceiling.

I say should be, aiyo - I've put in 10 flush-ies over the last 3 years, so I know it's like that, in the box.

Hint - when you cut out the ceiling bits, use a very fine keyhole saw, save the bit you just cut out...

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thanks, D ma'am and Brother D man. The current ones have a short down-rod. I want light fixtures, but not at bump-heading depth. Where's the cheapest to get some? Recommend 5-blade?

Also, our current ones have 20" blades and seem to be 48" across from one blade tip to another. Is there a big difference between 48" and 52" in smallish bedrooms?

i'm sorry, won't happen again! (although, jonas isn't his real (birth) name - also a long story) (also, we are engaged, not married...yet)

in other news, i sent out a grand total of 2 work-related emails today and had a 2.5 hour lunch with my co-workers (squid ink pasta, had godawful heartburn after that, but totally worth it). christmas to new year's should just be declared a public holi-week.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!
