Some people are just not the brightest bulbs. wink.png I hope she doesn't leave your daughter a bad review.

So mine came home from school today and like every Thursday had library books. She managed to find a book in the school library about a little girl who had moved from Scandinavia and was missing her 'mormor' at Christmas. The little one was just crying last night about home much she missed her grandparents. cray5ol.gif She couldn't have possibly had read this book and the little one actually thought it was about Hanukkah (which would be fine too with her other grandma being Jewish). laughing.gif She swears up and down that she picked this book for herself, foreign words and all, but I think that the librarian or teacher might have done it knowing it would be relevant.

I hope she doesn't either, we are waiting for a response now so we will see what we can do then.

Poor girl I hope the book helps her out.

Good luck on getting a job soon, but I think a Gap sales clerk isn't gonna make you the huge bread winner, you're hoping to be. Maybe apply at Target, and you can get access to millions of credit and debit cards for personal use.

Oh I know that but figured that any job will do....besides this would be walking distance otherwise I will have no way to get to any kind of work in the city except the 2 hour buses that don't run on time and don't leave at 4am for me to make it early rather than late :)

But yah...whatever I get now will be just fine so I can pay back the people that lend me money in the first place and then off to being a bread winner...hopefully.

I probably broke the convo you were talking about now, sorry about that. Did not check. I am annoyed at hubby gonna go read a book away from him. I wish people did not see a difference in opinion as a direct attack at them but rather something to embrace especially when its not a big issue at all. grrrrrr.

I hear ya.

When we went to see Thor there were a bunch of teenagers there to see the Hunger Games and like groups of girls all with Katniss reaping braids, which I love to do on the little one, but can't seem to do on myself. A dutch braid straight across the front of your own head and around is tricky.

Any time anyone mentions Thor I automatically think of the "I need a Horse!" scene.

1. Sounds like an adventure. 2 year olds can certainly travel!

2. I can't remember if it was Ecuador or Peru or some such place, but my mother and a group of doctors/dentists here donate equipment to rural clinics and hospitals there and make trips down to do some more advanced worked and training. I think they last sent down a dental xray machine and they wanted to send a mammography unit but were told there was no one qualified to read the films and even if they did, there was no way to get treatment really. Kinda sad. sad.png

1. Not if they're Mini-B. and don't want to, no and no man.

2. Good intentions if the locals can follow up. Rather like moving to one of those places and importing an (for the area) exotic car that you can't get parts for and no one can service. I would love to find a way to send a playground fixture (see any suburban corner park in the U.S.) to Mrs. T-B.'s hometown, si man.

El Cheapo

That's actually my name, or would be if other Cheap Gringos didn't exceed my relevant capabilities.

This renews the need to repeat this classic in this thread, si man:

Mrs. T-B. [a couple of years ago]: I bought you cheap.

T-B.: What did you say?

Mrs. T-B.: I bought you cheap.

T-B.: You bought me cheap? What the dickens does THAT mean? I'm not that cheap. And don't let Immigration hear you say that.

Mrs. T-B. [increasingly frustrated]: Cheap, CHEAP! I bought you CHEAP!

Further investigation revealed that she had gone to the store and bought a bag of potato cheaps, si man. headbonk.gif

This segues into the rant of the other night that I forgot about, see man: Somehow, in some way, as I typed immortal typings for VJ, a potato cheap got down the back of my underwear, gee man. Even after diagnosis and clearing of the malady, the cause remains unclear to this day, man.

Wife wasn't too happy this morning when getting dressed. She can no longer fit her fat pants for that time of the month. This is made even more discouraging for her, since she just recently purchased upsized fat pants rofl.gif The planned dinner for the evening was to be a treat for her, which your's truly is cooking because of resultant abdominal constrictions of my wife gets at this time. My wife decided this morning she would have no treats and further more wanted no rice with her lunch. Rice makes one fat, according to her. This decision came about when I said we'd need to buy her an inch larger sized pants, the size of which shall remain unsaid as it might offend some ladies. I think it hit her that she has never in her life needed such a size to accommodate the monthly fluctuations of her female form. I'm finding the entire situation rather humorous, as my wife has often noted how overweight Americans are and is now fighting that problem herself.

Please refer to the "Things Not to Say to Your Wife" thread in this very forum, whee man. I still think that we could make a zillion bucks if we invented and mass-marketed a vacuum cleaner for, uh, The Monthly Blood, and could shorten said hellish time from a week-plus (sometimes it's longer) to a day at most, bleed man.

Yep. I am stingy - I coupon and even make the Dane take back all of our deposit bottles!

As a La Cheapa, you need practice. Here are excerpts from the most recent e-mail from my best pal, the Champion of Cheap Gringos, see man:

[...] we went to a Mexican restaurant called Casa ____. I had enchiladas and the ladies had Fajitas. The food was pretty good but it cost us $33 after tax and tip. I could eat every day at Wendy's for a whole month for that price. Afterwards, we went to [resale store #1]. I found a brass fireplace accessories kit for $6 and a Russian-made gold thread king size duvet half off for $6. [Wife] found a feathered black Gap jacket for $10. She has wanted one of these for a long time and she was lucky this time. Afterwards, we went to [resale store #2]. I found fireplace bellows for $4. [Wife] and her mom found a curtain, bra, microwave omelet maker and a folder. Total price was $15 after a $3-off coupon and $7 exchange. Harbor Freight was next door so we made a quick dash inside and I gave [Mother-in-Law] and [Wife] $1 each and we all bought tubes of epoxy and got free items thanks to coupons.

At McDonalds, I bought 20 pieces of Chicken Nuggets and got another 20 pieces more using a coupon. The total cost including a $1 fry and $1 Coke was $7.56. We all shared the Coke which I filled 4 times to get our money's worth out of it. We were totally stuffed from all the food. While leaving ___, we took a shortcut and I noticed a Goodwill Outlet that we had never seen before. We decided to stop and take a quick look. This Goodwill is different than the others and what was supposed to be a quick stop turned out to be several hours. They sell everything for $1.39 / lb. Everything is dumped in large bins with wheels (kind of like a shallow oversized wheelbarrow). My best find were a set of premium curtain rods and the curtains. A guy who's a professional shopper said I was lucky to find that. I also found a nice cooktop but only needed the pans so I took it apart and grabbed the pans. I also took fluorescent bulbs out of lights. My stuff weighed 39 lbs., mainly from the steel curtain rods. Overall, it was worth it because you would pay $30 for each rod new and I got 6 of them. [Wife] and [Mother-in-Law] bought mainly clothes and shoes. [Wife's] cart was 14 lbs and [Mother-in-Law's] cart was 22 lbs. You need to come visit this store one of these days.

I did fix the [car] engine problem several days ago. Turns out, the problem was the Idle Air Controller valve which I diagnosed by hunch. Like a cheap gringo, I simply cleaned it with alcohol and reinstalled it and the car started up like a new engine. Had I towed the car to the mechanic, I would have been out $500 or more.

The Lincoln got 27 mpg on the drive back and we filled up for $2.95 / gal. Before we left, I filled all the tyres to 45 psi. One of the front tyres had only 30 psi and the car was pulling slightly. That corrected that issue and it's definitely getting better fuel economy. I'm thinking about increasing the tyre pressure to 50 psi and seeing if I can get even better mpg. A 44-psi tyre should easily be able to handle 50 psi.
