Losing slowly is the best way, it means you're establishing habits that can keep the weight off. I'm working on that now, I want at least 10 lbs of this extra weight the wife packed on me gone. But its really really hard when she cooks so good.

You're supposed to be able to lose up to 2 pounds a week, but that would be following a strict diet and killing it in the gym everyday, and even then not everybody's metabolism allows for that. Slow and steady wins the race :)

we need to find a nickname for Part8's hubby. So we can make fun of him too........

Well his real name is Diego so some of my family call him Dora because of the kid's show. Dora has a cousin named Diego. :P

Hmmm I wonder if my wife's family considers me the trophy husband, by that reasoning. I bet they actually do.

I know my hubby's friends and family do, but it's mostly because he got a visa through me and they all think the USA is a magical cloud land full of castles and rainbows.

USC who lived in Manabí, Ecuador with hubby from 2009 - 2013. Hubby became a naturalized American citizen in August 2016. Currently living together in northern Virginia.

You know it baby!

that's why we call you "The Professor" lmao

Actually my wife's family is doing OK, and none of them have the desire, including my wife, to come live in the USA. I think more than anything, they like getting caucasian genes into the family. Everyone over there has this obsession with being white. To tell the truth, I've seen a lot of mixed Filipino and caucasian kids, and they do come out looking pretty darn good looking a high percentage of the time.

One thing I noticed when I first got to know my wife's family, they were highly concerned about how well I'd treat her. Had they not thought I'd treat her well, or not love her enough even, they'd never had let us continue on. And I know for a fact if the family had said no, she would of dumped my butt. Her mother even made me promise to return her to the Philippines if I ever got bored with her. I don't know how the heck I'd ever manage that with someone as stubborn as my wife, I suppose knock her in the head and put her in a box is about the only way if she wanted to stay. Or give her a round trip ticket, then its there problem getting her to stay if she didn't want to. But no way does my wife want to stay in the USA. If I hadn't promised we'd move back there when I retire, she never would have came here in the first place.

I think that 2 pounds depends on how overweight you are to start out with. The My Fitness Pal thing won't let you go below 1200 net calories (which is probably a good thing), so for me that is supposedly 1.7 pounds a week. As I weigh less it will be less a week though.

So, my neighbors who long ago adopted two kids, I think from Chile, got them the American girl doll matching baby twins who had the same skin tone and hair as them. They gave them to my daughter about two years ago (they came with us to DK and back) and what does she call them? Diego and Dora. Kids are simple that way.

See, some of my husband's family is not so happy that I took him to the land of rainbows, or they like to call it "starving children on the street shooting guns at each other".

1. That's true, too. There a lot of factors, really. I use that app, too! I quite like IIFYM and the system it creates. It's flexible and simple but effective and easy to stick to. :)

2. My mom bought hubby a Go Diego Go towel, and on his birthday his coworkers got him a Go Diego Go cake. It's unavoidable.

3. It's got a lot to do with perception and what your own country has to offer. Ecuador has more poverty and starvation to the point where you can't avoid it, so even though we do have those things here, in comparison it's better in their eyes. I don't know, it's a "grass is always greener" situation, I suppose.

I guess I do have a lot against me:

- I'm young

- I'm a trophy wife

- I'm a SAHM

- I only married for money

- I'm fast approaching 30, the end of my useful life. The Dane better start looking at mail order bride websites to find a hot young barely legal bride.

It is raining here and maybe like 36.

Warm! I even have the windows open.
